Be it known that I, ENOCH PRIMM, of Petersburg, in the county of Menard, and State of Illinois, have and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art tomake and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

This invention relates to an improved cider-press, and consists in the construction and arrangement of the parts, and adaptability for the purpose of making cider. In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a vertical section at line x zc of Figure 2, which is a transverse vertical 1, of my improved cider-press.

A is a frame sliding within frame B. A block, C, containing pulley-wheels, is fitted in sliding frame A and a, row of pulley-wheels, D, one less in number than the pulley-wheels in block C, is pivotel in fixed frame B at b. The rope E passes round the pulleys, one end being made fast on the crossLpiece B', and the other attached to the drum on the shaft of the wheel F. On top of sliding frame A is pivoted a, single pulley, G;

is fixedA to the sliding frame A, and the other attached to the drum K. M is a box, in which Vthe fruit is placed .to be pressed. N is a spring, which serves to keep the pinion O in gear withl F. The axis of passes through the frame B and spring N, where it is secured by a nut, n.

To raise frame A, press nut n, forcing in spring N until it catches in spring-catch `l", and holds spring N back, leaving pinion O out of gear; then wind up drum K by crank Z.

What claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
