ACHILLE LELONG, OF VILLERS POTERIES, BELGIUM.
LIGHTNING-CONDUCTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 693,555, dated February '18, 1902.
Application filed November l, 1901. Serial No. 80,732. (o modela) v I ro Melsens pear made in accordance with my invention and details for fixing the same. Fig. 3 shows the spiral which is employed in lieu of the ordinary earth plate for conducting the electric current to Jthe earth.
In Fig. l I have shown a Franklin rod a, composed of copper and provided with integral spikes or projections b. A part of one of the supporting-brackets cis shown in this View.
o In Fig. 2 Ishowa Melsens pear B, provided with a series of integral spikes or projections A. This pear B is mounted on one or more feet D, which rest on lead rods E, usually mounted on zinc ridge-plates (not shown) on 2 5 the roof. The conductor-wire C is connected to the rod a, Fig. l, above the securingbracket c and to the pear B, Fig. 2.
In Fi g; 3 is shown'a copper spiral conductor G, that is employed in lieu of the ordinary eartheplate, this spiral being provided with a series of barbs or spikes II and having the conductor-wire C connected thereto. If desired, these spikes H may be protected against oxidation by being galvanized or tinned.
Having now fully described my invention,
'what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A lightning-conductor comprising a conducting-wire connected at its upper end to a conducting-body provided with a series of spikes, and at its lower end to a spiral copper coil having a series of projecting spikes, substantially as describe In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two Witnesses.
