PATENT OFFICE.
LEWIS E. WATERMAN, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO EMERSON MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF ROOKFORD, ILLINOIS.
DISK PLOW.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 692,805, dated February 4, 1902.
Application led August 3l, 1901. Serial No. 74,034. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I LEwIs E. WATERMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Disk Plows, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to form a connection between the furrow-wheel, evenersupport, and main frame, in order that the relative positions of the furrow-wheel with respect to theevener-s'upport can be changed while the plow is in use. V
In the accompanying drawing is shown a perspective view of so much of a disk plow as to give a clear idea of my improvements in 'connection therewith.
The main frame of the plow is of an old construction and to which I lay no claim in this application and comprises the support l, furrow-wheel 2, its vertical support 3, the disk support 4, the disk 5, (shown in dotted lines,) the land-wheel 6, (shown indotted lines,) and the evener support 7, having a pivotal connection with the support 8.
From the support S extends an arm 9,and to this arm is pivoted an arm 10, provided with an elongated vertical opening l1. To the support for the furrow-wheelis secured an arm 12, and to the end of thisarm are piv-` oted two bars 13. The free ends of these bars are provided with holes. To the pivoted evener-support are secured two brackets 14 and 15, these brackets supporting a vertical shaft 16. The upper end of this shaft is provided with a crank 17, and the lower end of the shaft has an arm 18 extending laterally therefrom and has a connection with the bars 13, near their free ends. Atoothed segment 19 is supported by the disk-support, and a handlever 20, with dogs, has a pivotal connection with the segment. To the hand-lever is connected a clasp 2l. v A rod 22 has an eye at one end receiving the crank, and the clasp 2l connects the rod with the hand-lever.
The team can move the evener-support laterally to either side of a center line, and the so that the forward portion of the frame can be moved bodily. As the evener is moved laterally the furrow-wheel will move with it,
and by means of the hand-lever the relative.
position of the furrow-Wheel with respect to the evener can be changed.
I claim as my inventionl. In a disk plow, the combination of a main frame, an evener-support having a pivotal connection with the main frame, a furrowwheel, a connection between the evener-support and furrow-wheel, and a lever for moving the connection.
2. In a disk plow, the combination of a main frame, an evener-support, a furrow-wheel, a link connection between the furrow-wheel and evener-support, a' toothed segment, a hand-lever, a rod connecting the hand-lever and link connection, and a stop to the lateral movements of the evener-support.
3. In a disk plow, the combination of a main frame, an evener-support having a pivotal connection with the main frame, a furrowwheel, an adjustable connection between the evener-support and furrow-Wheel, and a lever for moving the connection.
4. In a disk plow, the combination of,a main frame, an evener-support having a pivotal connection with the main frame, a vertical shaft pivotally supported by the evener-support and having its ends in crank form, a furrow-wheel, a connection between one of Athe cranks of the shaft and furrow-wheel, a
lever supported by the main frame, and a rod having a connection between the other crank ot' the shaft and the lever.
