Witmeooeo 54 g 7 a'nm'nwz dim/m1 I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IRVIN D. LENGEL, OF'READING, PENNSYLVANIA.
VAPORIZER FOR LIQUID-BURNERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 673,545, dated May 7, 1901.
Application filed October 13, 1900. Serial No. 32,963. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IRVIN D. LENGEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Reading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vaporizers for Liquid-Burners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in Vaporizers, and is particularly adapted for use in vaporizing liquid just prior to its being fed to the burner when the burner is about to be lighted.
The object of the invention is to produce a vaporizer that will be positive in action, thus removing all danger of a flow of the liquid into the burner.
The invention is fully described in the fol lowing specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a plan View, and Fig. 2 a sectional view, of my vaporizer.
The casing A is preferably circular and of dish form and has an inlet-tube a, formed at one side, through which a tube pleads. This tube connects with the fuel-supply and after entering the casing is formed into a coil P and rests on a lug b, formed in the base of the casing. The coil is held in position by means of a plate g, held by a screw it, which enters the lug b. The free end of the tube 10 leads to the burner. (Not shown.)
passing through the coil is heated to vaporization before it leaves the coil to enter the burner.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is In a vaporizer, a circular open-top casing having a coil of tubing P mounted on a central lug b therein and held in position by a plate g and a screw passing through its center and entering said lug, the coil having a space beneath it inside the casing to receive an absorbentmaterial, one end of said coil forming an inlet and the other an outlet leading from the supply to the burner, and a stop-cock 'n at the inlet to regulate the flow into the coil, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
IRVIN D. LENGEL.
