Description
@Mish giedre stmt @fita ISAAC II. MCOMBER, OF EL'PASO, ILLINOIS.
Letters Patent No. 65,929, ated June 18, 1867.
@le Sflgrhult feierten te im lgese Enters zrtent nur making mi 11i-tigt sume.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ISAG H. MCOMBER, of El Paso, in the county of Woodford, and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful improvement in Weather-Strips; and do hereby 'declare that the following, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, A represents the door-casing, E the door-sill, and B the door. D represents a strip, which is secured upon the sill E, and within the door-way, in such a position that when the door is closed the bottom of the door rests partially over it. C represents@J false sill,
which is hinged to the out-er edge of sillv E, and which may lie upon `the cleats H H upon the sill E, or may he thrown hack, as seen in Figure 3, serving as a platform. When the false sill C lies upon the Cleats H, its inner edge rests beneath the door, but (loes not reach the strip Il The hottornoi the door is provided with a. groove, X, which said groove stands over the space between strip D and the false sill C, when the door is closed. The false sill C lying close under the bottom of the door, prevents water from beating in to any great extent, and all the Water which does beat under the door is prevented from crossing to the strip D by the groove X in the `door, and falling down into the space between the false sill C and the strip D, runs out under the false sill between the cleats H, and passes off. This false sill may be applied either to window-sills or to door-sills.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and .desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The arrangement of the false sill C with the grooved door-cleats H H and the strip D, substantiallv as and for the purpose set forth. v 1
In testimony that I claim the foregoingI have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th day of April, 1867. ISAAC H. MGCMBER. Witnesses:
LEMUEL S. STOWE, A` M. GAVAN.
