To all whom t may concern: A.
Be it known that I, ANDREW GROW, a citivzen of the United States, residing at Queensville, in the county of Jennings and State of Indiana," have invented certainl new and useful Improvements in FeedingAttachments for Clover-Hullers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention 4relates to feeding attachments for clover-hullers or other similar machines. l
The object 4of my invention is to provide an improved combination of parts whereby a simple, cheap, and. compact form of feeder may be produced and ,in which the clover may be more completely freed or cleared from the feeding-forks and guard and at the same time more uniformly fed to the hulling cylinder and chamber. The invention consists of the construction and combination of parts substantially as herein shown and described, and particularly pointed out in the 4annexed claim.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure l is a longitudinal vertical sectional view of an embodiment of my invent-ion. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on line of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of thel parts employed for operating the reciprocating feed-table or hopper and the supplementary guard or de# pressor frame.

' Referring tothe drawings, A designates the main frame of the feeder, with the hulling cylinder and chamber arranged at its left or rear end. Supported by and recipocating on the frame is an inclined feed-table or hopper B, its front end being supported by bars C C, pivoted to the hopper and to the lower part of the main frame; The rear end of the hopper rests and moves upon the platforinl). Journaled in the lower part of the main frame is a crank-shaft F, having bars G G connecting its crank-arm with the bars C C, by
means of which upon the rotation of the shaft the hopper is reciprocated. -In the upper rear part of the frame is journaled a double crankshaft H, on which are mounted the feedingforks I I, which operate alternately down through the slats or bars of the main or stationary guiding and guard frame J, secured to standards on the main frame. The forks are held in the proper working position on the shaft by links K K, pivoted to the main frame of the machine and to a short bar eX- tending from 4the fork-head. A large drive or band pulley L is fixed to one end of shaft H, `and on the` other is a small pulley M. A
small pulley N is fixed to shaft F, and a band N passes aroundy pulleys M N, so that the rotation of shaft F is effected by the rotation of the large drive-pulley` L.
Attached to or immediately infront of the -main or stationary guard J and extending down to the rear thereof is a supplementary movable o r oscillating guard-frame O. Bars or links P are pivot-ally connected with the lower part of the supplementary frame and to bars G G by means of a cross-bar G', so that upon the rotation of the shaft the lower part of the supplementary frame will be drawn down toward and raised from the platform D. It will thus be readily seen that at the end of the backward movement of the feedtable or hopper the supplementary frame will have about reached its lowest point and pressing orhforcing the clover down in front of and between the serrated feed-bars, thereby enabling them to feed a large and more uniform quantity to the hulling cylinder and chamber. The movement of the supplementary frame also clearsl the clover from the v main guard-frame and feeding-forks, thereby confining the material to the lower part of the hopper and preventing the entangling and accumulation of the sametabout these parts.
