Be it known that I, JOHN L. DIBBLE, of the city of New York, county and State of New York, have invented anew and improved Exercising Club, (commonly called Indian clubs,) for gymnastic purposes; and do declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to Ina-ke and to use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in whichv The drawing marked Figure 1 represents a sectional elevation of the instrument.
The drawing marked Figure 2 represents the perspective elevation of the instrument.
The invention consists of a metallic cylindrical shell or tube, A A, intovthe ends of which are fitted the turned blocks B B and C C, the bleek B B forming the handle to the instrument, and the block C .C the base or butt of the sanne.4 The whole is firmly held together by the central rod D D D, and secured by the nut E.
F F represent one or more-.metallic weights, as may be needed to give therequired weight to the club. The cen'v tra] red D D Dlpasses through the centre of these weights, which are secured at any desired point on the rod by the nuts G G.
Mode of using: The instrument is grasped rmly the handle, and swung to and fr0, around, and about the head, in a manner well known to gymnasts.
The advantages of the invention are economy of space, the ability to increase the weight of the lnstru-` ment by adding to the weights, and ability to regulate the balance of the instrument by means ofthe nuts G G.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The metallic cylindrical shell A A, and the central rod D D Duns arranged and combined with the blocks B B and C C, and adjustable weights F F, thewhole forming ancxercising club substantially as herein described and set forth.
