Inasmuch as the automatic filling-changing type of loom herein referred to is so well known and in extended use I have not herein shown any of such filling-changing mechanism, except the controlling shaft d,thus avoiding multiplication ofdrawings and description of well-known devices.
My invention is not restricted to the precise construction and arrangement herein shown and described, as the same may be modified or rearranged in various particulars without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a loom provided with automatic filling-supplying mechanism, a controller therefor, the lay, means mounted thereon to part the old filling-thread, including a two-part downhold to engage and hold the thread upon the raceway of the lay, and a cooperating member to engage and part the thread between the holding-p0iuts,and actuating mechanism to move the downhold into operative position and to thereafter actuate the parting member, operation of the controller effecting the operation of said actuating mechanism.
2. In a loom provided with automatic filling-supplying mechanism, a controller there for, the lay, a two-part downhold and a cooperating yieldingly-connected thread-parter, both pivotally mounted on the lay and relatively movable, and actuating mechanism to move the downhold and parter bodily to bring the former into engagement with and tohold the thread at two separated points, continued operation of said mechanism moving the parter independently to part the thread between such points while held, the operation of the actuating mechanism being effected by or through the operation of the controller.
3. In a loom provided with automatic filling-supplying mechanism, a controller therefor, the lay, a two-part downhold and a 00- operating yieldingly-connected thread-parter between the parts of the downhold, both pivotally mounted on the lay and relatively movable, and mechanism positively connected with the thread-parter, to rock it and the downhold in unison to bring the latter into engagement with the thread, and to thereafter move the parter independently to part the thread between and while held by the two parts of the downhold, operation of the controller effecting the operation of said mechanism.
4. In a loom provided with automatic filling-supplying mechanism, a controller therefor actuated by or through partial exhaustion of the filling, the lay, means mounted thereon to part the old filling-thread, said means including a movable two-part downhold and a cooperating parting blade, and actuating means governed by said controller, to move the downhold into engagement with and to hold the thread upon the raceway of the lay, and to thereafter move the parting-blade to sever the thread while held.
5. In a loom, the lay having three transverse recesses in its race adjacent the clothselvage, thread parting means pivotally mounted on the lay, including a two-part downhold and an intermediate parter, ayield- .ing connection between them, mechanism positively connected with the parter, to move it and the downhold in unison until the latter has engaged the thread and entered the outer recesses in the lay, the parter thereafter moving independently to enter the central recess and part the thread stretched across it, and means to effect the operation of said mechanism.
6. In a loom, the lay, thread-parting means thereon including a downhold and a cooperating, yieldingly connected parter, both bodily movable, and mechanism to move the downhold and parter in unison until the former engages the thread, the parter thereafter moving independently to part the thread so held, said mechanism including a dog hav ing a releasing-lip,combined with a hunter adapted to engage and move the dog, a projection on the hunter to be engaged by the releasing-lip when the movement of the dog has been completed, to thereby disengage said dog and hunter, and means to move the hunter into operative position.
7. In a loom provided with automatic filling-supplying mechanism, a controller therefor operative upon exhaustion of the filling 10 the dog and bunter before the lay has com- 1 pleted its forward movement, whereby the parting means Will be actuated before filling transfer.
