SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 610,342, dated September 6, 1898.

Beit known that I, PHILIP CASEY, Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing in Paterson, county of Passaic, and State of New J ersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Rings and Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form apart of this specification.

The object of my present invention is to provide a combined curtain ring and fastener of simple, strong, and durable construction, neat in appearance, quickly and readily attachable and detachable to the pole and curtain or portire, and by the use of which the tearing of the said curtain and portire is fully avoided.

The invention consists in the improved curtain ring and fastener, the spring-clasp carried thereby, and in the combination and arrangement of the various parts, substantially as will be hereinafter more fully described, and finally embodied in the clauses of the claim.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, in which like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each of the several views, Figure lis a front elevation of a portion of a Window-frame, the curtainpole,-and curtains provided with my improvements. Fig. 2 is an enlarged view of one of the rings shown in Fig. l; and Fig. 3 is also an enlarged view of one of said rings, showing a certain modification thereof.

In said drawings, a represents the curtainpole, and b b the curtains, which latter are carried by and connected with said pole by means of a series of combined curtain rings and fasteners c c.

Each curtain ring and fastener c consists of the ring proper, c', and of a spring-clasp, which latter is preferably integral with the ring proper, c. The ends of the ring proper, c', are bent to form an auxiliary substantially circular ring c3, having the attened end portions of its sections bent inward upon themselves, as at c6, their free ends being curved, pointed, and in contact with each other, as at c7, and adapted to engage the curtain, as will be manifest. In Fig.`3 said inwardlybent portions c6 are provided with prongs or projections o8, furnishing additional means for holding the curtains in proper position.

The curtain-rings are slid upon the poles in the ordinary manner, and after being arranged at the desired places the clasps are opened and the curtain inserted between the flat-tened portions, as illustrated in Fig. 1.

I do not intend to limit myself to the precise constructions shown and described, as various alterations can be made without changing the scope of my invention; but

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- Y 1. A combined curtain ring and fastener consisting ofa single strip of elastic metal bent to form the curtain-ring proper, and a clasp comprising a second ring adjoining the meeting ends of the curtain-ring and a pair of coaching members projecting from said second ring, constituting the extremities of said strip and having their ends rebent upon themselves and in normal contact with each other, substantially as described.

2. A combined curtain ring and fastener consisting of a single strip of elastic metal bent to form the curtain-ring proper, and a clasp comprising a second ring adjoining the meeting ends of the curtain-ring and a pair of coacting members projecting from said second ring, constituting the extremities of said strip and having their ends rebent upon themselves and in normal contact with each other, said members being provided with coacting prongs, substantially as described. v
