No. 594,920.' Patented Deo.7,189'7.
Fig- 1 W/7'NESSES.' /'N VENTO/9 AOHNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUST THIEKE,I OF BERLIN, GERMANY.
woon-PLUG HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Ivetters Patent No, 594,920, dated December 7, 1897.
Application filed April 28, 1897. Serial No. 634,266. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUST THIEKE, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Berlin, in the Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire, have invented a new and Improved Wood-Plug Holder, of which the followingis a full, clear, and exact specification.
The object of this invention is a device intended to take the place of the wooden dowels now generally in use for securingwooden parts-such as panels, moldings, &c.-to masonry, so as to obviate in a simple and econ'omical manner the numerous inconveniences attached to the use of these dowels.
The essential feature of the new plug-holder is that wooden plugs are held in masonry by a white-iron plate, secured in turn to the Wall with nails or the like.
The accompanying drawings show the new wood-plug holder in three distinct forms.
Figure l represents a Wood-plug holder for ordinary masonry for securing moldings and the like. Fig. 2 represents a wood-plug holder for plaster Walls with wire-netting. Fig. 3 is a modification.
The plug a is forced with its reduced end through a hole in the white-iron plate b, and the plate itself is fastened to the masonry 'with the two nails c, which are provided with a V- shaped cross-cut.
In Fig. 2 the white-iron plate b catches with turned-back Wings d behind the Wire d' and is so incased in the' plate. This figure further shows another larrangement suitable for securely fastening the plug to the white-iron plate and very efficient in all the various forms of execution. It consists `in the plug having projecting rims e overlapping the hole in the plate on one or on both sides. This arrangement can be effected by either pressing .the wood or by heating the white iron and forcing it 4over the plug while hot.
Fig. 3 represents a holder having two plugs secured by means of a plate b and a nail with S-shaped head c in the middle. This form is especially adapted for fastening the boards fortelegraphic push-buttons and the like.
I claiml. A Wood-plug holder, comprising a whiteiron plate secured to the wall, and the plug held thereby to the wall, said plug fitting in a hole in the white-iron plate with a projecting rimon one or both sides, substantially as described.
2. A wood-plug holder, comprising the plate b, means vfor holding it to the wall, an opening through said plate for the insertion of the plug and means for holding the plug to the plate substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. I
' AUGUST THIEKE.
