Be it kn own that l, JOHN AUGUSTUS Werr- ZEL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts wherever found in both the views.

This invention relates to toy cars, which are designed for use as toys and also as advertising devices; and the invention is fully disclosed in the following speciiication, of which the accompanying drawings forni a part, in which-- Figure lis a side view of my improved toy andof the car, showing also the method of operating the saine; Fig. 2, an end view of the car.

In the practice of my invention I provide a representation of a car, which is shown at 5 in Fig. l, and said car is preferably composed of two similar side pieces G and 7, which are formed from pasteboard or any suitable material, and each side is so formed as to represent the side of a complete car, and each is provided with downwardlylirected bearings S, which are provided at their lower sides with representations of wheels, as shown at 9, and between these wheels 9 are suitable pulleys l0, which are shown in dotted lines in Fig. l, and one of which is shown in full lines in Fig. These pulleys are mounted in yohes ll, one side of which is extended upwardly, as shown at l2 in Fig. 2 and in dotted lines in Fig. l, and secured to one of the sides of the car. I also provide a trolleyarm 13, which passes downwardly into the car and is secured to one of the sides thereof, and which projects upwardly, as shown in Figs. l and 2, and which carries at its upper end a trolley lat, which consists of a pulley mounted in a suitable yoke at the upper end of said arm. I also provide two end pieces or supports 1G and 17, and these end pieces or supports are connected by two cords or

18 and 19, and the upper cord 18 is passed through the yoke in which the trolley or pulley-14; is mounted and the lower part 19 is passed through the yoke in which the pulleys l() are mounted and beneath said pulleys.

'Ihe car rests on the cord lf), and by raising one of the end pieces or supports 16 and 17 it may be made to move from one end to the other, as will be readily understood, and in this operation the trolley-arm 13 serves as a support for the car and retains it in position.

This device may be used simply as a toy, or it may be used in store-windows and other places for advertising and other purposes, and in this event suitable means maybe provided for raising and lowering the end supports, so as to cause the car to move back and forth across the window.

7When this device is used as an advertising medium, any suitable advertisement may be placed on the sides of the car, and said advertisements'may be placed thereon when the device is intended for a toy.

IIaving fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. A toy car constructed as herein described, and provided with pulleys or wheels in the bottom thereof, said car being also provided with a trolley-arm, and two cords or wires connected with suitable end pieces or supports, one of said cords or wires serving as a support for the pulleys or wheels in the bottom of the car, and the other of which supports said trolley-arm, substantially as shown and described.

. 2. A toy trolley-car consisting of two side pieces, each of which represents the side of a car, and between the bottom of which are mounted a plurality of pulleys, said car being provided at its upper side with a trolley-arm, in which is mounted a pulley and two cords connected with suitable end pieces or supports which are adapted to be raised and lowered, one of which serves as a support for the pulleys in the bottom of the car, and the other for the pulley in the trolley-arm, substantially as shown and described.
