IIIRAM WVALKER, OF ILE AUX PECHES, CANADA.
VAPORIZER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 581,837, dated May 4, 1897. Ap lication filed February 8, 1897. Serial No. 622,555. (No model.)
To ctZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, 1IIRAM\VALKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ile aux Peches, in the county of Essex, Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Medicators, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my invention relates to an improved form of receptacle or case for con.- taining a medicament whose therapeutic virtues may slowly vaporize and be inhaled by the wearer of the device to his benefit in diseases of the respiratory organs or that can be reached through them.
The invention consists in the novel and peculiar construction of the device, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
Figure l is afront elevation of the case. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the opposite side. Fig. 3 is a crosssection at X X. Fig. at is a similar section showing the two halves of the case separated.
Like letters refer to like parts in the several figures.
In the drawings, A represents the body of the case, preferably circular in form, with a flange at the periphery. A tongue at projects from it and encircles a pendant b, by means of which it may be suspended from the wearers neck by a cord passing around it. The central portion is sunk so that a small drophandle 0 may lie flush therein and not abrade the skin.
A is a flanged cap or cover fitting snugly over the flange of the bodyA and is notched at the proper point for the reception of the tongue (0 on the latter. It is sunk inwardly nearly to the periphery, so as to receive a disk A lying flush therein and centrally pivoted thereto bya rivet (Z. Several concentric rows of coincident pin-holes e are drilled through the cover and disk. To bring the two sets of holes in opposition, a projection f, forming part of the disk A is used as a handle and springs into a notch g, cut in the edge of the flange of the case to hold it in place. The medicament inclosed in the case may now slowly vaporize under the heat of the wearers body, the escaping fumes being inhaled by the invalid. B y moving the disk a little and springing the lever f into another notch in the cover the holes in the cover are closed by the disk and the emission of the Vapors arrested.
' This medicating device, being small and compact, may be Worn continuously, but most suiferers from respiratorydisorders will find its use at night suificient and efficacious.
The flush handle 0 is for convenience in fitting the two parts of the case together.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The hereindescribed medicament-vaporizing device, consisting of the flanged body A; the flanged and perforated cover A fitting over it; the perforated disk A pivoted thereto, and provided with the lever f engaging with the notch g in the flange of said cover, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
