Beitknown that I, WILLIAM T. KEEPER, residing at Bedford, in the county of Lawrence and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Pen, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates generally to penpoints, and more particularly to a special construction of pen-point, the object being to provide against the soiling of the fingers; and another object is to provide a pen which will carry a larger quantity of ink than the ordinary pen-points now in common use.

WVith these and various objects in view my invention consists in certain details of construction and novelties of combination, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claim.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a view showing the invention in use. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of my pen-point. Fig. 3 is adetail view of the blank prior to rolling a portion of the metal to provide a reservoir. Figs. 4c and 5 show slight modifications.

In carrying out my invention I make the pen-point of steel, gold, or any desirable metal and provide the same with the usual construction of split point A and an ordinary oonstrucit will be noticed that by rolling down the tongue C a transverse reservoir is provided which is adapted to hold a surplus amount of ink, so that the pen can be used longer without dipping into the ink than the ordinary pen-points now in common use.

In Figs-4: and 5 I have shown slight modifications in which the tongue is split longitudinally, as shown at E in Fig. 4, or perforated, as shown at Fig. 5, in order to facilitate the feeding of the ink from the reservoir to the pen.

It will thus be seen that I provide an exceedingly cheap and simple construction of pen-point, one which can be used in exactly the same manner as any of the pen-points now in common use, one which will hold more ink than anyof the said pen-points, and one which will thoroughly prevent staining of the fingers while using'the pen.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

As an improved article of manufacture, a pen-point, having the point and head portions, and a tongue punched from the inter mediate portions and rolled downwardly toward the point on the upper face of the pen, and stopping short of the slit in the point, said tongue being rolled in the shape of a transverse cylinder, said'cylinder being slitted or perforated adjacent to the slit in the point of the pen, substantially as shown and described.
