particular construction and arrangement of the appliance provided with perforated separating media through which and about the ice-field a circulation of cold air is induced and maintained to impart its influence to the keeping of beverages, vegetables, and other perishable articles in a comparatively healthful or required condition for use.

My invention, stated in general terms, consists of a refrigerating appliance constructed in the manner hereinafter described and claimed.

The nature and characteristic features of my invention will be more fully understood from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, and in which Figure l is a vertical cross-sectional View of a refrigerator embodying features of my invention. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view on the line a: a; of Fig. 1.-

Referring to the drawings, A represents the housing or casing of the appliance provided with a cover or lid a.

b, in Fig. 1, represents inclined perforated walls or partitions separating the ice-chambers B from the chambers 0, adapted to contain articles to be kept cool or cold, and the said partitions b are provided with solid roofs or the like I). The partitions or walls are perforated in order to afford a free circulation and recirculation of air in and about the articles supported or suspended in the container-chamber O, and they are inclined in order to prevent the drip-water from melting ice F in the series of chambers B finding access to the chambers G, the water flowing off through a gutter or other shallow receptacle 0, through a drip-cock c, away from the housing of the appliance.

Beneath the floor A, made of a thin metal or other preferred material, is located an oblong chamber D for the reception of trays or racks for holding bottles adapted to contain beverages or other similar articles to be kept cool by the influence of the refrigerating media or ice against one surface of the floor A, as clearly illustrated in the drawings.

The principal advantageous feature of the present invention in either of the forms hereinbefore described is that a constant and free circulation and recirculation of air from ice are attained and maintained through perforated thin partitions of material capable of withholding and imparting the influence of the refrigerating media to circulating air about and among articles in the containerchambers O of the apparatus with the greatest possible units of cold being imparted to the air due to the particular internal arrangement of the appliance and freedom of the container chamber or chambers from drip-water of the ice chamber or chambers of the appliance.

Having thus described the nature and objects of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

In a refrigerator, two or more containercompartments arranged side by side, the side walls of each being inclined so as to approach each other at their lower ends, each side wall being perforated, and an ice-chamber within which the container-compartments are contained, substantially as and for the purposes described.
