Description
(No Model.) 4 A. BOLLINGKX.
EXHAUST VALVE FOR STEAM ENGINES.
No. 561,197. Patented June 2, 1896.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ARTHUR BOLLINCKX, OF BRUSSELS, BELGIUM.
EXHAUST-VALVE FOR STEAM-ENGINES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 561 ,197, dated June 2, 1896.
Application filed July 20, 1895. Serial No. 556,637. (No model.) Patented in Belgium March 21,1895, No. 114,651, and in England April 26, 1895,1l0. 8,293.
and other Motive Machines, of Whichthe following is a specification.
This invention has been patented in Belgium, dated March 21, 1895, No. 114,651, and in Great Britain, dated April 26, 1895, N0. 8,293.
It is the object of my invention to provide a valve adapted to control the discharge of steam from a cylinder which willreduce to a minimum the clearance in the cylinder.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a sectional view longitudinally through a portion of the cylinder and valve-casing, and Fig. 2 is a' trans verse section through the same.
The cylinder and piston are of any ordinary construction. D is the cylinder-cover,having the steam-conduit eduction E and the cylindrical valve-casing C, the lower edge of which is on a level with the surface of the interior of the cylinder. Ports E lead through the valve-casing to the conduit E. In the valvecasing a cylindrical valve A reciprocates, and when at the inner end of its stroke the face of this valve is even or flush with the inner face of the cylindrical cover, thereby reducing the clearance in the cylinder. The valve reciprocates along a line parallel with the axis of the cylinder.
I claim- In combination, the cylinder with its cover and piston, an exhaust-valve arranged in line with the interior bottom part of the cylinder to permit the ready escape of the water, said valve being of cylindrical form and reciprocating parallel with the axis of the cylinder to present its inner face flush or even with the inner face of the cover when the valve is in its inner position, the valves inner face being of the full diameter of said valve to present with the cover an unbroken inner face, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses. I
ARTHUR BOLLINCKX.
