The in vention consists principally of zr sheet of no combustible material interwoven i ranisv a.- rseiy with the brickwork.
The invention also consists of certain parts and details and. eovnbinntions oi. the some, will be fully described: hereinafter, and then pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the a eco npan yin g d rawin gs, io'rinin g (it part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding pants in. both the figures.
.liigui'e 1 is side elevation of the improvement, and. Fig. 2 is it plan view of the same.
A. sheet A, of asbestos or other non-eombns,
tible material, placed transversely in the 7 wall lhbuilt of brick, and these-id sheet is interwoven with the brink as the difiTere-nt courses of brick are laid, sothatjoints are broken n p wardy and trmzsv'ersely, as will be read i iv o n derstood. by referen cc to the ii g res. 'ifheislweets form a n1- the Wall. v
Sheets A are placed abontthree feet apart in a wall, so that the latter is divided into sections separated by the sheets of lion-com- ,b ustible and sufiieiently elastic material to eonipensete for-the expansion of aidjseent seetions.
This joint is very serviceable in furnaces rial, such as asbestos, end-interwoven transversely with the brick-work and breaking joint with thelayers of brick, substztntially as shown and described.
3. An expansion. joint for brick-Work, consisting of a sheet of non-combustible .Illitterial arranged transversely in the brick-work and in an approximately zig-zag line according to the joints layers.
