No. 536,509. Patented Mar. 26, 1895.;
ilNiTED STATES PATENT rrrcni.
WVILLIAM M. CARTER, OF NALLS, NORTH CAROLINA.
SUBSOILER ATTACHMENT FOR FLOWS SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 536,509, dated March 26, 1895. Application filed March 28, 1894. Renewed February 21, 1896. Serial No. 539.293. (N0 model.)
To 00% whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. CARTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nalls,
in the county of Montgomery and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Subsoiler Attachments for Plows; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. I
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in sub soilers, which are detachable and adapted to be applied to any plow of ordinary construction by simply bolting the standard directly to the beam of the plow, and owing to the adjustability of the soil loosener the depth to which it is desired to work the same, can be easily and quickly regulated.
To these ends and to such others as the invention pertains the same consists further in the novel construction, combinationand adaptation of the parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I clearly illustrate my invention in the an nexecl drawings, which with the letters of reference marked thereon form a part of this specification and in which drawings similar letters of referenceindicate like parts throughout the several Views, in which- Figure 1, is a perspective view of my sub soiler as attached to the beam of an ordinary plow, ready for use. Fig. 2, is an enlarged perspective of the sub soiler removed from the beam.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A, represents a plow beam of the ordinary well knownshape, and on the mold board side of the beam at any convenient location behind the said mold board is located the subsoiler B, having the expanded portion B brought to a point as shown, and this shaft is mounted in the apertures O, O, in the free ends of the V-shaped standard D, which is securely fastened to the plow beam by any convenient means, preferably by bolting the same to the plow beam at beam of particular construction to which to v attach the device.
Having thus described my invention, what I'claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isp In combination with a plow beam of ordinary construction, a V-shaped standard detachably secured to the mold board side thereof, and provided with apertures in the free ends of the said V-shaped standard for adjustably holding a subsoiler shaft, which is held in place by bolts F which engage in registering apertures of the standard ends and the subsoiler shaft, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM M. CARTER.
Witnesses:
JOHN P. LEAoH, PLEASANT O. SANDERS.
