To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, EDMUND NICOLAS, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Manchester, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented an Improved Construction of Buildings for Advertising Purposes, (patented in Great Britain December 17, 1891, N 0. 22,072,) of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to utilize in a 'new manner the enameled iron plates or tablets now extensively used for advertising purposes, and which are now usually nailed or otherwise affixed to existing walls, buildings, or boardings, thereby considerably increasing the load or strain on such erections.

The nature of my said invention and the manner in which the same is to be performed or carried into practical effect will be readily understood on reference to the annexed sheet of drawings and the following explanation thereof.

According to my invention I not only use the said enameled iron plates for advertising purposes but I actually utilize them in the construction of the building or erection itself thereby greatly reducing the cost thereof.

My invention will be readily understood from the following description on reference to the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of my improved structures partly put together. Figs. 2 and 3 are detached views drawn to a larger scale of parts hereinafter referred to.

I construct a light metal skeleton framework as shown at a Fig. 1 on the annexed drawings say for a temporary or permanent oifice room, warehouse, or other building to be used for commercial or other purposes, using angle iron a a or steel or similar metal or other convenient section as at a a riveted or bolted together as shown by the detached views Figs. 2 and 3 preferably with a wooden foundation as shown at a Fig. 1, and I arrange this framework in such a manner that the said enameled iron advertising plates or tablets b can be used as paneling for filling in the spaces of the said framework a thus forming actually an integral part of the building itself, and economizing the cost of erection as the advertisers will not only supply the plates gratis but also pay for their utilization in this manner.

The plates or panels are preferably made with notches c at their ends to fit the bolts or rivets and so fixed that their horizontal edges overlap slightly in the manner of tiles or slates as shown at Fig. 2 so as to be weather proof, and they are by preference so attached to the framing by bolts or otherwise that any one or more of them can be removed at any time and exchanged for others without disturbing the other parts of the building or in any way disarranging its stability.

The framework also will be preferably so arranged that the buildings can be readily taken to pieces, transported, to another situation and re-erected as desired.

I claim- An improved structure consisting of the combination with a skeleton framework for temporaryoffice or other similar building, of panels formed of enameled iron advertising plates or tablets provided with notches in the ends thereof, and bolts or rivets passing through said notches and securing said plates in position as an integral part of the structure, whereby the said plates may be readily detached therefrom and changed at pleasure, substantially as I described.
