' ROLLER-BEARING TRUCK.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 523,098, dated July 17, 1894.

Application filed August 12,1 893. Serial No. 482,959. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, GEORGE W. BACON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rushville, in the county of Schuyler and State of Illinois, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Roller-Bearings; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it ap pertains to make and use thesame, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in roller bearing trucks, and is designed to provide a truck of this character of great strength and efficiency, and which may be adapted for use in the various places where ordinary bearings are employed. I

With these objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, all as hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanyingdrawings I have shown the invention as more especially adapted to a truck designed for use in moving buildings or, heavy weights.

In the drawings, the letter A designates a transverse plank or bed, supporting at each end portion a block B, which extends at right angles to the length of said plank or bed. Supported upon said block is a cap 0 designed to support the weight to be moved, and having a pivot a at its upper central portion to permit of changes in the direction of the travel of the truck, as in turning corners, &c. Disposed around said bed or plank, and parallel therewith are a series of rollers D, each of which has at each end, a stud or journal (1, and connecting said rollers into an endless 45 series, by means of engagement with said studs or journals, are a series of links E. The rollers travel underneath the bed or plank A, and between the upper surface of said bed or plank, and the under surface of the cap 0.

This construction enables the truck to sus- 5o tain and move large weights, with comparative ease, and requires but a single plank as a track for the truck to travel upon.

In adapting the invention to shafts, axles, &c., the rollers are disposed around the jour- 5 nal in the bearing chamber which is preferably somewhat eccentric, so that the efiective bearing will take place at the point where the weight is sustained, leaving the rollers more free to move at the opposite portion of their travel.

I do not claim broadly in a truck, the employment of an endless series of connected rollers, traveling around a bed, as such arrangement has been heretofore known; butI am not aware that a house-moving truck has heretofore been known, wherein the roller bed has been extended laterally to form supports for pillow blocks, the latter supporting a rest for the building, said rest extending par-- allel with the rollers, and having a central pivot point or projection, as hereinbefore described.

Having thus described my invention, what I believe to be new, and desire to secure by 5 Letters Patent, is-

The herein described house-moving truck, comprising an endless series of rollers, a roller bed having lateral extensions beyond the ends of the rollers, pillow blocks supported on said extensions, and a rest block for the building, supported on said pillow blocks, parallel with the rollers, and having a central projection or pivot point, substantially as specified.
