UN ITED STATES PATENT I OFFICE.
JENS ZINN, OF COPENHAGEN, DENMARK.
COMBINATION COOKING-VESSEL.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 515,457, dated February 27, 1894.
Applie ation filed May 9, 1893.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JENS ZINN, residing at Copenhagen, in the Kingdom of Denmark, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Cooking-Vessels, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1, shows in section the cooking vessel with appurtenances in a collapsed condition. Fig. 2, shows it in a drawn out condiiion standing on a tin box into which the apparatus may be folded as in Fig. 1, but which when it is drawn out and used may be applied in a reversed position as a base.
The cooking vessel is, as shown in Fig. 2, formed by five conical rings a, b, c, d, and e, the diameter of which is such, that one ring may be pushed around the other by which all five rings may be folded into the position as shown in Fig. 1. The undermost ring c, has a bottom e and the uppermost has a loose lid U as also a ring handle P, which in a vertical position reaches the bottom, in which position it is held by means of a stop. In the exterior tin box F there is a receiver G, indicated in Fig. 2, by dotted lines, which is intended to hold alcohol or spirits, when the apparatus is being used. 7
R is the lid of the tin box fastened by means of the hinge joint p. k
In Fig. 1 where the tin box is reversed, the receiver is seen at the top, and the box F inclosing the cooking vessel in which position the apparatus may be used as a shield especially as protection for the breast or lower part of the body. In the lid of the box there Serial No. 473.621. (Nomcdeh) is a hole for the flame. When the apparatus is used as a shield the loose coverU is placed inside this hole, in which also the needfnl straps are put for fixing the device in place. In the opposite side of the box there is room for a shield plate H which is a compound of an alloy of aluminium with ten per cent. titanium or of Harveys nickel steel or some other metal, which ofiers the greatest possible resistance to musket balls.
In Fig. 1, is shown placed together in the tin box F the cover U, a frying pan-m, with handle 12., two plates 9, a shield plate H adapted to be used as spade or hoe with its handle h, a spirit receiver G, a loose foot or stand q, all covered by the lid E fastened to the box by the hinge joint 13.
The box F is perforated as in Fig. 2, to admit air for combustion.
I claim- A combination cooking vessel and container consisting of the box F adapted to receive numerous articles, said box having a cover provided with a receptacle adapted to contain a combustible material when the box is inverted, said box being provided with an opening opposite said receptacle and peripheral openings, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
J ENS ZINN.
