- pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The object of this invention is to provide an improved gaine apparatus having a vertically movable platform for agitating objects placed thereon, said platform being operated by a spring-actuated bar the spring of which is compressed and then released by means of a coin carried by a rotary shaft, as will be hereinafter fully set forth and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure l is a sectional view of a game apparatus constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view with the cover of the case removed; and Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of a modification of the platform.

` said shaft having rigidly secured thereto the coin carrier as well as a ratchet-Wheeld with which engages a spring actuated pawl d', said pawl and ratchet wheel preventing the rotation of the shaft in any but the proper direction. The case A has a suitable cover, A2, which is recessed for the reception of a suitable dome of transparent material, preferably glass, said dome being attached to the cover. The center portion of the case is apertured for the passage of the rod which depends from the platform, and it is also provided with a coin receiving slot 01,. The shape of the platform, E, corresponds with the shape of the dome, and is provided on its upper surface with a covering of felt, and above said felt covering are secured cups e e. When said cups are used balls c are also used in connection therewith, in which case the object of' the device consists in actuating the platform so as to cause the balls to drop into the cups.

The stem or rod depending from the platform and which normally supports the same is enlarged beneath the platform `as shown at F, and from this enlarged portion depends `the rod f which passes through an elongated aperture in a composite cross-bar Geach part of which is clamped upon the side members of'a spring H, said spring being made of a single piece of wire which is bent as shown, the same being coiled around the xedcrossbar D, the terminal members extending downwardly on each side of the bar and entering apertures in the base portion of the case. It will be noted that the movable members which extend parallel with the sides of the case pass under the cross-bar C which serves as a stop to limit the upward movement of the spring and at the same time holds it in position so that the forward connecting portion will be engaged bya coin or token which is passed through the slot in the cover and passes therefrom into the coin carrier I carried by the shaft D.

The coin carrier consists simply of a cylindrical block which is provided with a slot c', or slots, as shown. The diameter of the coin carrier is such that the periphery thereof will be adjacent to the slot ca in the cover, which slot is formed in the cover with a part of increased thickness so as to better serve to guide the coin into the slot in the coin carrier. The slot or slots in the coin carrier are of less depth than the diameter of the coin, so that when the coin has been passed through the slot in the cover and enters the slot in the coin carrier it will project beyond the periphery thereof so as to engage with the cross-bar h o f the spring I-I.

Instead of providing the platform with cups as shown in Fig. l it may carry a series of upwardly projecting pins, as shown in Fig. 3,

and upon the platform be placed a suitable so as to bring one of the slots in the coin carrier beneath the slot a so that the coin will fall therein, and as the knob is further rotated the coin Will contact with the cross-bar h of the spring II and depress the same, thus allowing the platform to move downwardly for a short distance. The continued rotation of the coin carrier Will release the coin or token from the cross-bar of the spring, and the up- Ward movement of the spring Will cause the cross-bar G to engage with the enlarged portion F attached to the platform and agitate the balls or movable objects on the platform, which when they fall may enter the cups shown in Fig. l, or the rings encircle the pins shown in Fig. 3. The coins or tokens can be removed from the case through the doorway.

It is evident that the dome Will prevent the objects being removed.

The device hereinbefore described is simple in construction, and can be readily and cheaply manufactured.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. In agame apparatus, the combination, of a case supporting a dome within which is a platform upon Which rest movable objects, said platform having a depending stem or rod, a spring-actuated bar carrying a crossbar With a slot through which the stern of the platform passes, a coin slot in the case, a coin carrier or cylinder mounted on a shaft and having a recess or recesses Within which a coin is adapted to partly lie, the connecting portion h of the spring actuated bar lying normally adjacent to the coin carrier or cylinder and in the pathlof the projecting part of the coin carried thereby, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.

2. In agame apparatus, the combination, of a case, a cover therefor having a coin slot and an aperture through Which passes the stem of a movable platform, rigid cross-bars B and C located to one side of the aperture through which the stern of the platform passes, a spring bar coiled upon the cross-bar C to present a loop h and projecting ends which are attached to the case, the side members of the loop of the spring bar carrying a cross-bar having a slot through which the reduced p0rtion of the stem of the platform passes, together With a coin carrier or cylinder I mounted on a shaft and adapted to be turned in but one direction by the knob, said coin carrier operating the spring bar which actuates the platform by means of a coin placed therein, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.

3. In a coin controlled game apparatus, the combination, of a case supporting a movable platform, the case having a slot a, a shaft D mounted in the case and having a knob D at one end, a ratchet Wheel on the shaft With which a spring-actuated pawl engages, said shaft also carrying a cylinder I having a recess or recesses@ of slightly greater diameter than the coin receiving slot a, together with a spring bar coiled upon a cross-bar to present a loop upon which is mounted a crossbar G having a slot through which a stem or rod depending from the platform passes, said stem being enlarged adjacent to the platform for engagement with said cross-bar, the connecting portion 71, of the loop of the spring bar lying adjacent to the cylinder I so as to be operated upon by the coin adapted to be carried by said cylinder, and a stop for limiting the movement of the spring bar, substantially as shown.
