SPECIFICATION forming part of Letter Application filed June 24. 1892.

To all whom it may conccr I lie itlmown that l, KONRAD Wmxnuuuua, a resident of Nuremberg, Bavaria,Empire of Germany, have invented an Improvement in Spittoons for RailwayCars and the Like, oi" which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in spittoons for railway cars and like vehicles,and consists'in the arrangement and combination of parts therein as hereinafter described and specifically pointed out in the claims.

The object of my invention is to provide an odorless spittoon for railway cars, horse cars and other passenger vehicles, wherein it is essential that the spittoon should'not occupy any room otherwise available, should not be li: ble to overflow, and that it should not restrict the movements of the passengers, but at the same time be easily accessible to the occupants, and so constructed that the handling of the spittoon, in the process of filling,.

emptying, cleaning, 850., can be simply and quickly accomplished.

Like letters refer to likeparts in the various figures of the drawings, and in which- Figure l is a partial section of my improved spittoon, in operative position, taken from the right to left-hand's idc of Fig. 2 andthrough the center thereof. Fig. 2 is aplan view of my spittoon; and Fig 3 is a longitudinal section of one compartment of a railway car embodying my invention. Fig. 4: is a sectional detail on the line 2-2 of Fig. 2.

The construction of my spittoon I will now proceed to describe as follows:

' Having described my invention, what I thrown up claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The combination of the grating 9, containingvessel (1, and the discharge valve 0 provided with overflow holes Z, located beneath said grating e substantially as described.

3. The combination of the grating 6, containing-vessel a beneath said grating, and provided with perforated internal basin (Z located within the said containing-vessel a and discharge valves 0, all arranged substantially as described.

4. The combination of the removable grating e, containing-vessel a, located beneath said removable grating, basin (Z and valve 0 adapted to be. Seated by said removable grat ing, substantiallyas described.

5. The combination of the containing-vessel a, with removable grating e, hood 7a, internal basin (Z, and valve 0, having escape-openings Zwhich form overflows for the containingvessel, substantiallyas described.
