Description

V UNITED. STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CORNELIUS CRONIN, OF KINGSTON, AND GWILYM EDWARDS, OF EDWARDS- VILLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
FUEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 498,629, dated May 30, 1893.
I 1 Application filed December 9, 1892. Serial No. 454,562. (No specimens.)
To all whom it mag concern.
Be it known that we, CORNELIUS CRONIN, of Kingston, and GWILYM EDWARDS, of Edwardsville, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fuel,.of which the following isa specification. v
Our invention is in the nature of a new artificialfuel to be composed of several ingredients, and molded or compressed into bricks, blocks, or lumps, for use in stoves, furthe culm together in a mass, being itself also combustible. The ground limestone by its refractory mineral nature gives a brilliancy to the fire, and the petroleumis used for promoting combustion and facilitating the igni tion of the mass. These ingredients are ground together and molded or compressed into blooks,-lumps, or bricks.
To facilitate the adhesion and mixing of the mass a variable proportion of water may be 35 added depending upon the dampness of the I culm.
Having thus described ourinvention, what; a we claim-as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A composition of matter for the production of artificial fuel consisting of culm,w0od pulp, ground limeston e,and crude petroleum, mixed in or about the proportions described.
