KEG OR TOOL RACK.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 493,896, dated March 21, 1893'.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, WARD E. PIERCE, of Pulaski, in the county of Oswego, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Keg or Tool Racks, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates to keg or tool racks and particularly to that class which is adapted to be stored and shipped in knock-down shape, to be readily set up in stores and vending places, and which afford easy and convenient means for holding nail kegs, agricultural implements, 850.

My object is to produce such a rack which may be readily assembled at the place where it is desired to be used, and adapted to hold kegs in a very convenient position so that the goods may be readily displayed therefrom; and also easy and convenient means for holding hoes, forks, brooms, &c.,taking up a minimum amount of space.

My invention consists in the several novel features of construction which are hereinafter described and specifically set forth in the claims hereto annexed. It is constructed as follows, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1, is an isometrical elevation of the rack, complete, showing kegs therein, and im plements stored thereon. Fig. 2, is an end view thereof, with the kegs removed.

pieces connecting the side bars -22 giving the rack lateral support and are provided in their upper faces with openings into which the ends of the hoe, broom, mop or fork handles, are placed and supported vertically. 4, are cross bars directly over them and are provided with apertures through which the ends of the aforesaid handles are placed, substantially as shown in the drawings.

55 are cross pieces secured by bolting or in any other well known manner at their front side upon top of the cross bars 2 and at their rear ends to the bottom of said bars, thereby forming an incline and affording a support for the barrels or kegs which contain the material which it is desired to display.

It will thus be observed that the kegs or barrels may have the head taken out and the goods will remain therein where they may be easily and conveniently seen.

Having described my invention, what I claim is A knock-down rack comprising standards mortised and adapted to receive the side bars, side bars, cross pieces connecting said side bars having recesses in their upper faces, pairs of cross pieces secured at their front end to the top of the side bars and their rear ends to the under side of the opposite side la s, substantially as described for the purposes set forth.
