A is a box or ease. having a lid, B, hose l loch is in the exclusive custody ot' the supercompartments and appropriate apertures may be provided in the box. An additional safeguard may be afforded by providing a shutter or escutcheon, J, to the key-hole, which escutcheon, when closed, passes under a curb, L coincident with whose center the said escutcheon is provided with a flaring stud or button, M. The key-hole being closed by the escutcheon, a wax seal may be run and stamped into the space within thc curb, and will be securely held in place by the button lVI. A still t'urlher safeguard may consist in ijxing athwart the 'aperture D, on its under side, a yielding and resilient tongue, N, which, being momentarily deflected by the passage into the box of a counter, will return with a spring and strike a bell, O, so as to enable the collector as Well as the payer, and even any bystander, to know Whether a counter has actually entered the box.
The box may becoinposed of tin, wood, gottapercha, leather, or other suitable material, and may be adapted for use with coin or other money instead of counters.
P is a hook attached to the rear of the box for the purpose of suspending the same to a staple driven into a Wall or side of a car, 85o., or to a band upon the conductors person.
