SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 488,625, dated October 4, 1892.

To 610% whom it may concern..- From the screw-post c a wire runs to a spring 40 Be it known that I, HOMER T. Wilson, a citizen of the United States, residing at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electrical Burglar-Alarms; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention has relation to electric burglar-alarms; and the object is to provide an alarm-bell of peculiar construction, a single source of energy, and an open and a closed circuit, whereby the opening or breaking of the closed circuit will cause the bell-armature to fall back and close the open circuit through a vibrator-spring, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

Figure 1 is a front view of my improved burglar-alarm system, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the alarm-bell used therewith.

In the accompanying drawings the same letters of reference indicate like parts of the invention.

A is the alarm-bell, and from the bindingpost B the circuit runs through the coils a a to the screw a of the metallic base or frame I), thence from the frame at b to the bindingpost B, thence over the loop O to the screw post a, thence over the battery-circuit c to the battery, thence back to the binding-post B, forming a closed circuit and holding the armature in contact with the magnet.

The loop 0 is the circuit in which the connections are placed, connecting the points to be protected, and is a normally-closed circuit, and it is obvious that any number of contactpoints may be placed in said circuit and the opening or breaking of any one of them will cause the bell to sound an alarm and continue ringing as long as the loop 0 is open.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s

The combination, with the base A, provided with an alarm-bell, and coils a at, having binding-posts B B in direct connection therewith, of the battery-circuit c and the alarm-circuit O in electrical connection with the post a, which in turn is connected to the spring-contact arm d, adjustably secured to said base A and having its connecting point or free end passing through a slot in said base, so as to contact with the vibrating-armature hammer, substantially as shown and described.
