EXPRESSION-REGULATOR FOR PIANOS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 482,168, dated September 6, 1892.
Application led May 16,1892. Serial No. 433,134. (No model.)
To all whom, t may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH Y. DRUCKEN- MILLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jenkintown, county of Montgomery, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Expression- Regulators for Pianos, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of an attachment to a piano, constructed substantially as hereinafter described, whereby the character of the music that is performed may be expressed or regulated.
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a piano expression-regulator embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a front view thereof on a reduced scale. Fig. 3 represents a bottom plan View thereof. Fig. 4 represents a perspective View thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate correponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates a piano, which, excepting the features of my invention applied thereto, is of usual construction.
To a portion of the case of the instrument beneath the keyboard is pivoted the kneepiece B, whose inner end is provided with a roller O, which latter bears against a lever D, which is pivoted adjacent to said knee-piece.
E designates a vertically-arranged lever, which is mounted within the body or case of sisting of a pivoted knee-piece and two pivoted levers adapted to be attached to the casing of the piano, said parts being combined substantially as described.
2. An expression-regulator for a piano, consisting of a knee-piece adapted to be pivoted to the casing of a piano and having a roller journaled on one end, a pivoted lever having one end in contact with said roller, a vertically-pivoted lever within the piano-casing, having its lower end in contact with one end of said first-mentioned levers and its upper end adapted to contact with the hammer rest rail or head of the piano, said parts being combined substantially as described.
