INCANDESCENT ELECTRIC LAMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 475,394, dated May 24, 1892.
Application filed August 22, 1891. Serial No. 403,495. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY GREEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Incandescent Electric Lamps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to an improveto ment in incandescent lamps; and it has for its object to so construct a lamp that a circuit may be formed with the filament through the circuit wires or conductors in the recess of the neck of the lamp without the aid of any filling in, such as-annular rings, plaster-ofparis, or contact supporting-blocks.
A further object of the invent-ion is to attach the circuit Wires or conductors to the inside of the neck of the bulb or on its upper edge by the fusion of one or more spots of glass or cement, causing said wires to be,
trained up the interior of the neck and sealed thereto.
Other objects and advantages will appear from the following description and claims when taken in connection with the annexed drawing, in which the figure is a sectional View of an incandescent lamp, showing the method of attachment of the outer ends of 3c the circuit wires or conductors to the interior of the neck of the bulb by fusion of glass thereon, and the neck of the bulb fashioned with little beads, projections, or recesses for the purpose of securing said bulb into a holder or socket.
Referring byletters to said drawing,A A indicate the circuit wires or conductors which are trained up on either side of the bellshaped recess in the head of the bulb and secured to the top by fusion of glass at the points marked (1 d, and B B indicate two little beads or projections of glass, one on each side of the head cc, for the purpose of securing the bulb into the holder or key-socket. This head 0 0 may have depressions in the sides (not annular) which will answer the same purpose as the projections.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is -1. In an incandescent lamp made entirely 0 of glass, a pair of circuit Wires or conductors attached in the usual manner to the platinum wires and trained up the sides of the hollow recess in the center of the neck of the lamp and fastened thereto by the fusion of a small portion of glass, substantially as specified.
2. In combination with an incandescent lamp made entirely of glass, a pair of circuit wires or conductors attached in the usual manner to the platinum wires and trained up the sides of a hollow recess in the neck of the lamp and secured thereto by the fusion of a small portion of glass, and a number of beadlike projections or spurs round the outer portion of the neck of the lamp for the purpose of retaining said bulb in the holder or socket, substantially as specified.
