Patented in Germany August l2s, 1890,-110. 57,498, am in Austria-Hungary JenuaryfZ, 1891, No. 371,403 and No. 67,6305'` To @ZZ whom, tml/ny concerlvfv Be it known that we, J osEF QUITTNER and LEOPOLD QUITTNER, man ufact-urers, subjects of the Emperor of AustriafHungary, residing 5 atVienna,in the Province of Lower Austria,
in theiEinpire of Austria-Hungary, have i-nvented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Coin-Freed Seats, (for which Letters Patent have been obtained/in Austria 1o Hungary, No. 37,403 and No. 67,630, dated Jannary 2,1891, and in German'yyNo. 57,498, dated- August 23, 1890;) and 'We do hereby declare the following to bea-fou, clear, andzexaot d e-' soription of the invention, such as will enable 15 others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to lettesof reference marked thereon, which forni` apart of this specification. i 2oz The invention relates Vto"coin-,operateddevices,and more especially to coin-controlled seats-such as chair or Water-closet`seats and the like-in which the seat is locked-'against use and freed byiafcoin or coins. As the lever-arm 1 swings down, the delivery end of the coin-receiver m moves away from the projection p and foot d' of slide (Lilie coin being'discharged into the box or casing g, and said lever is prevented from returning into its normal position by the projection q on said slide, engaging the arm la of the lever when the slide (l and har j' have been moved down suiiciently, as shown in Fig. 2. The seat a, after the occupant leaves the same, is Vautomatically returned into its normal elevated position by any usual and Well-'known Imeans-as, for instance, a spring or springs or a counter-weight or by means of Weighted levers or the like.
Having now described our invention, what we claim asnew therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A coin -1 controlled mechanism comprising a slide provided lWith a project-ionand a guide-bar connected with the slide and provided with a locking-notch, in combination with a Weighted lever K, one ot` the arms of which is adapted to engage the notch in thc lguide-har, the other arm of said lever carrying a coin-receiver arranged relatively to thc lguide-bar, substantially as and for the projection on Vthe slide, so that when a coin or coins of proper thickness are placed 1n the receiver said projection will have bearing thereon and through the same on the recei ver,
-for the purpose set forth.
2. A coin-controlled mechamsm comprisin: a slide provided with two projections p Abar and link, as described, for the purpose set forth.
3. The combinatiomwith a, seatc, pivot- 4ally connected with a fixed support,`the slide d, havingf projections p and q, and the barf,
lhaving locking-notch 7L, said bar andlslidc being pivotally connected together and to the seat, of a suitable casing provided with guides for the bar f, a coin-slot and `a coin-chute, as n, and the three-armed lcvenK, constructed and arranged to cooperate with the link and purpose set forth. y 'i 4 In testimony whereof we aix ou r signatures in' presence of two witnesses. i 1 JOSEF QUITTNER.
