To aZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, PERRY J. FISH, of Barherton. in the county of Summit and/State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Envelopes or Cases; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description-of the invention, such as will enable othersskilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same. to My invention relates to improvements in envelopes or cases more especially adapted for-the transmission of photographs by the mail; and it consists-in certain features of construction and in combination of parts herevinafter described, and pointed out'in the claim.

, In the, accompanying drawings, Figure 1- shows the back side of an' open envelope em bodyin g my invention. Figs. 2 and3 show, respectively, blanks of paper and card-board 2o employed in-inaking myimproved envelope. ,Blanks of paper and card-board, as shown in Figs. 2- and' 3, having been prepared, the blank of card-board is folded on central line a, section A of the blank of card-board being ,2 5 gored or slotted, asat a, for the purpose hereinafter described. The blank of card-board that thus forms the side walls of the pocket of the case or envelope having been folded,

as aforesaid, isplaced in position on the blank 0 of paper with section A of the card-board next thebody of the blank of'paper, and with the respective edges of section A coincident or approximately coincident with lines b b b, that represent approximately the size of the 3 5 envelope, and side" and end sections of flaps B B B of the blanket paper are folded on the respective lines just referred to and gummed or pasted to section A of the card-board, the other end section B of the blank of paper conostituting the closing flap of the case or envelope. Flap B is slotted or gored at the edges, as at b thus dividing the flap into two 3 parts Biand B and in closing the envelope" flap B is folded on line b (see Fig. 2,) and the ends b of part B slipped into gores or slots a of section A of the card-board, and to insure the maintenance of'the closed condition of the case or envelope during trausmisbeing gored or slotted substantially .asindision through the mail part Biand the central portion of part B of flap B should be suffi- 5o 'cientlystiff for the purpose, and this stiffness is had by making said portions of flap B of a double thickness, the blank of paper, as shown in Fig. 2, coinprisinga section B ,Whl(3ll,

when folded on line b and gummed or pasted to parts 13 and Biwill sufiiciently reinforce or stiffen the flap for the purpose aforesaid.

By the construction hereinbefore described, it will he observed, is produced a cheapstron g,

and comparatively inexpensiveenvelope or case for the purpose for which itis designedan envelope or case that will protect the .contents during transmission by the mall, and

that requires no gumrning, string, or other ing covered with paper, the latter, except at the open end of the envelope or case, being turned over the edges of the former and gummed 0,,r pasted to the back side of the case or.envelope, said paper at the open end of the case or envelope terminating in a closing-flap,the back side of the envelope or case 5 cated, and the closingfiap aforesaid having sections adapted to enter said gores or slots, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
