Description

(No Model.)
H. KRoUs. BOTTER'S STEAMING PAN.
Patented Dec. 8, 1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY KROUS, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
BOTTLERJS STEAMING-PAN.
i SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 464,774, dated December 8, 1891.
Application filed July 13, 1891. Serial No. 399.306. (No model.)
T0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, I-IENRY KRoUs, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bottlers, Steaming-Pans, which improvement is fully set forth in the followin g specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to bottlers9 steamingpans, and has for its object a device having means for controlling the corks of the bottles while being steamed; and for this purpose it consists of a plug of novel construction and operation.
It f nrther consists of means, snbstantially as described, for secnring the pln g-holdin g plate to the steaming-pan.
It fnrther consists of the combination of parts hereinafter set forth.
.Fignre 1 represents a side view of a portion of a bottle-steaming pan embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a central Vertical section of the plate and a plug with a bottle. Fig. 3 represents a partial sectional and partial side view of aportion of the device. Fig. 4 represents a view on line x x, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates a steaming-pan adapted to hold a number of bottles B containing beeror other liquid during the steaming of the same.
To prevent the corks O of the bottles from popping or being forced ontward during the said heating, the plngs D are employed having a teat D entering the month of the bottle. The said plngs are provided With screw-threaded exterior portions which work in the bosses E, secnred to a plate F, of metal or other suitable material, which is adjnstably connected with the pan A by means of the rods G, which have bent lower ends forinsertion in openings in the sides of the pan, so as to be readily connected with the same. The said rods are also inserted in the slots I-I in the sides of the plate, and are threaded, having thereon a thnmb-nnt J.
On the plate, at the inner end of each slot H, is pivoted alatch K, adapted to embracea rod G, inserted in said slot, so as to hold the same from lateral movement.
The manner of Operating the device is as in the slots H and the latches K locked on.V
the rods, when the thnmb-nnts J are screwed against the latches, thereby holding the same in locked position and the plate F on the bottles. The plngs may be screwed in the bosses E, so that the teats DX may enter the neck, as desired. w
By having slots in the sides of the plate the rods can readily be detached therefromby unlocking the latches without Operating the nnts.
Having thns described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- V 1. A bottleris steaming-pan having a plate With a plug therein, the latter being adapted to bear against the cork of a bottle held' in said pan, said parts being combined substantially as described.
2. A steaming-pan, a plate, plngs connected With said plate, and rods connecting said pan and plate, said parts being combined substantially as described.
3; A pan, aplate with slots in its sides, rods connected to said pan and in said slots, and latches pivoted to said plate and adapted to embrace said rods, said parts being combined snbstantially as described.
4. A pan, a plate with slots in its sides, threaded rods adapted to be connected with 'said pan and inserted in said slots, thnmb-n nts on said rods, and a plug adj ustablein said plate and having teats on its under face, said parts being combined snbstantiallyias described.
5. A steaming-pan, a plate with threaded bosses on its npper face and slots in its sides,
rods adapted to be connected with said pan,
and said plate, latches on said plate, thumbnnts on said rods, and plugs in said bosses,
having teats thereon, said parts being combined snbstantially as described.
