Description

(No Model.)
F. MINK'. WATCH Bow FASTENER.
Patented Oct. 20,1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRITZ MINK, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO THE KEYSTONE IVATOI-I OASE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
WATCH-BOW FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 461,798, dated October 20, 1891.
Application led August 2 3, l 890.
To @ZZ whom t may concern:
Beit known that I, FRITZ MINK, of the city and county of Philadelphia', and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improvement in Watch-Bow Fasteners, ot' which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to watch-bow fasteners; and it consists of certain improvements which are fully set forth in the following specification, and shown in the accompanying drawings, which form a part thereof.
The object of my invention is to lock the ends of the watch-bow to the pendant while allowing to it the usual swinging movement. This I accomplish byforming the pendantwith a removable sleeve or sleeves, which are adapted to be attached to the pendant by means of screws or other suitable devices and engage with ianges or heads upon the ends of the bow.
In the drawings, Figure l is a sectional side elevation of a watch-case pendant and a bow embodying the principles of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same on the line .fr of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a similar view with the parts detached, and Fig. 4t is a perspective view of the two sleeves removed from the body of the pendant.
A is the watch-case pendant.
B is the bow, having its ends provided with flanges or heads c. These flanges or heads may be formed by grooves, as shown in Fig. 1, or in the form of ordinary enlarged ends. Carried by the pendant on the outside are sleeves D E, which are adapted to be placed upon the pendant. These sleeves D E are provided with semicircular recesses CZ e, which tit over the enlarged ends c upon the ends of the bow, thus clamping the bow between them. The sleeves are secured to the metal of the pendant by means of screws F or in any other Serial No. 362,872. (No model.)
manner. If desired, the lower sleeve E may be made integral with the metal of the pendant, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the upper sleeve alone being removable.
By the construction employing the two movable sleeves D E the pendantA may be made with a smooth outer surface without the necessity of forming apertures or recesses therein for the ends of the bow, as is now usual, as the two sleeves D E will clamp the bow between them, the sleeves being secured im movably upon the pendant by means of screws or other devices independently of the bow.
While I prefer the details ot construction which are here shown I do not limit my invention to them, as it is apparent that they may be modified without departing from the principles of my invention.
I-Iaving now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a bow-fastening for a watch-case, the combination of the pendant provided with an annular portion formed with notches or recesses e upon its rim for receiving the ends of the bow, a sleeve movable upon the pendant and fitting against the annular portion there of and provided with corresponding notches,
` so as to form two apertures on diametricallyopposite sides, a bow having its ends provided with heads or iianges fitting into the apertures, whereby the heads or iianges are located back of the sleeve, and means independent of the bow for securing the sleeve immovably upon the pendant.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
FRITZ MIN K.
