The object of my invention is to provide a circuit-closing attachment for annunciators by means of which an electric lamp will be lit when the annunciator-drop falls.
My inventionconsists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the annunciator A is the electro-magnet a, mounted, on the base-plate B, and in a standard b, projecting from the base-plate, is fulcrumed the armature-lever O, which extends in one direction over the magnet a and in the opposite direction through a mortise in the annunciator-drop D. The drop D is pivoted in an extension of the base-plate and is in clined slightly when in its position of rest, so that it will fall by gravity when released from the catch 0 on the end of the armature-lever O. The armature-lever is held normally out of contact with the electro-magnet bya retractile spring 61, connected with a prolongation of the armature-lever and with a stud projecting from the standard I). In an, arm e, projecting at right angles from the standard b, is inserted a screwf, which limits the downward movement of the catch end 0 of the armature-lever C.
The base-plate B is mounted upon a block E, in the front end of which are secured the wires g h. To the wire it is attached a contact-spring i, which is held normally out of contact with the wire g. The said contactspring 1' is supported within the path of the drop D, so that when the said drop is released from the catch cit will strike the springt' and close the circuit between the wires g h. The wires 9 h are connected up in the circuit of the battery F, as shown, an electric lamp j and switch kbeing inserted in the circuit.
The annunciator A is designed to be used in a burglar-alarm system,the circuit-closing devices and battery being connected with the terminal wires of the magnet a inthe usual way. When a sufficient amount of current of electricity is thrown upon the magnet a by the opening of a window 01' door, the armature-lever O is tilted and the annunciatordrop D falls, striking the contact-spring 'L'and closing the circuit of the battery F, thus causing the lampj to become luminous. After the trouble is located the lamp j is eX- tiuguished by opening the switch It.
Although I have described my invention" in connection with a burglar-alarm, I do not limit or confine myself to this use of the apparatus, as it may be applied to danger-sigpath of the drop to be thrown thereby against the wire g, a battery-circuit connected with said wires, and a signal in said circuit, substantially as set forth.
