DRIER-CAR.
srncrrrcs'rron rene s of Lettersratent No. ceases, dated time 9, 1891.1
.s umaineanmi 12,1891. smnnsssaeov. cameo" To-all whom it mdy concern:
Be it known that I, Pumnns ARNOLD, a
- citizen of the United States of America, residing at, Canal Dover, in the county of Tuscara-- was and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drier Oars; andIdo herebydeclare the'tollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the ing drawings, and to I letters of relerence marked thereon,-which form apart at this specification. g
This invention relates to improvements in drier-cars, especially that class used in connection with a kiln for the purpose of a support in the process of drying preparatory to burning the brick or tiles, the same being de-- signed as an improvement upon my patent, dated January 14, 1890, No; 419,306.
In the accom nying drawings, forming part of this spec iication,-Fi are l is a side elevation of a drier-car em yiiig my iniprovemenis. Fig. 2 is a plan view. Fig. 3 is an end view. Fig. 4 is a detail view of one of the hangers. Fi 6 isa side view of one of the supporting-w eels.
A refers to the frame of the car, which is made up or longitudinal side piecesc cotangle-iro'ii. These side ieees are rigidlybolted to cross-pieces b, wine ereturtherconnectod to each other byacentral longitudinal T-iron brace-beam c. Centrally the cross-beams b are provided with eyes to receive the draftattsohnient.
To the iigper edges of' the longitudinal beams dare cited transverse supporting-slats d, upon which the bricks or tiles to be dried are laced, these flat strips being preferably ma eof metal. 7 g
To the outer-sides ot the longitudinal beams aa are bolted or secured hangers B, these hangers being connected to each other by the rigid axles C, which are secured to each hanger by setfscrews or .boltse- By providing rigid axles the hangersare attached more and the inner face of the hangers.- By this construction it will be observed that each oi the wheels will revolve independently while the axles are rigidly secured to the hangersi-qoo securely to each otherand' greater rigidity vis given to the same. The wheels D have 'en-- larged central hubsf, against which lie the" which may contact with the collarson'tfie mile 7 In this class of cars it is not practical to use,
Oil as a lubricant, as the same would be soon dried up when the car is placed in the dr in kiln, and by means of the bearing the w ee s will rotate freely is dispensedwith.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a drier-car, the eombinatiomwith the an gle side bars or beams, end cross bars, andsliits d, ri idlgcomiecting the same, of acentral longitud nal race-beam,draEt-eyesconnected theretcg hangers or axle-supports B, rigidly secure to the side beams a, axles 0, having and the use of a lubricant e5 enlarged portions G, the hangers being apertured to receive the axles and provided with clamp-bolts e, and supporting-wheels having enlarged hubs for the reception of anti-friction bearings, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth,
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
PHINEAS .ARNOLDQ 'Witnesses: JOHN A. .HOSTETLER,
Gnonen BETSCHER.
