UNITED STATES ATENT FFICE,
EDWIN DE MORTIMER,
OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 45,1 1], dated November 22, 1864.
To all whom it may concern:
' Beit known that I, EDWIN DE MORTIMER, of the city of Cincinnati, Hamilton, county and State of Ohio, have produced a new and original Compound for Soap; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact dcseription of the same.
To two and one-half pounds of common barsoap add two ounces potash, one ounce of pearlash, one quart of water; and add, while boiling, four ounces coal-oil or benzole, onefourth pound of starch, and one-half pound of soapstone. WVhen 0001 add one ounce aquaammonia. For toilet use add two ounces glycerine and any desired coloring or perfume.
