To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ANTON H. RAVENSTEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Guelph, in the county of Dickey and State of North Dakota, have in vented a new and use ful Harvester-Dropper, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in harvester-droppers.

The object of the present invention is to provide a harvester-dropper for both headers and binders which will be of simple and inexpensive construction, in which the weight of the loose grain will be equally balanced and will require but slight exertion to dump the same.

The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a dropper and frame constructed in accordancewith this invention, showing the position of parts preparatory to dumping? Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the position of the parts when in position for dumping. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional View.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 designates a frame whose back 2,which lies adjacent to a dropper 3, is closed and adapted to form one of the sides of the dropper when the latter is being filled and in a position preparatory to dumping. The dropper or box 3 is pivoted between the ends of inclined arms 4, that are secured to the sides of the frame 1 and project outwardly therefrom, and the pivots 5 are arranged approximately to and above the center of gravity or point of support, and but a small amount of exertion is required to dump a heavy load, and the said pivots pass through U-shaped plates 6,

that are secured to the sides 7 of the dropper,

and have their arms extending downward and bent under the dropper and secured to the bottom 8, the front portion 9 of which is inclined to facilitate dumping the contents of the dropper: The back wall or side 2 of the frame 1, which is closed and forms one side of the dropper, is slanting, and the adjacent edges of the side pieces 7 are inclined and fit closely against the side 2 when the dropper is in position to receive a load, and the upper edges 10 of the side pieces 7 are curved and adapted to bear against the side 2 of the frame while the dropper is being tilted to support the parts, and also to prevent the escape of its contents, except through the opening at the bottom of the dropper, and the sides 7 have secured to them suitable fabric 11, which is also secured to the frame to prevent the grain falling over the curved edges of the dropper and to directthe same within the box or dropper. The frame 1 is provided with a suitable platform 12 and a seat 13 for the operator, and it has pivoted to its top a cross-bar 14 a lever 15, whose handle 16 is arranged within easy reach of the operator. The top cross-piece 14 is provided with a suitable stop 17, and the lever has attached to it one end of a cord, which is secured to the rear wall of the dropper, and when it is desired to deposit the grain the operator pulls upon thelever and tilts the dropper.

From the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings the construction, operation, and advantages of the invention will readily be understood. 1

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. The combination of the frame having the stationary slightly inclined side 2, forming a permanent part thereof, the parallel arms 4, extending from the frame, and the dropper having one side open and being centrally pivoted to the arms at and arranged to have its open side completed by the side 2'of the frame, and having the upper edges of its sides 7 curved and adapted to bear against the side 2 when the dropper is tilted, substantially as described.
