IMPROVEMENT IN vMODE 0F MANUFACTURING TIN CANS, ICADDIESfLc.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.42 ,624, dated. May 3, 1964.
To all whom it may concern: Y Be itknown that I, J. W. MILLET, of Batchellerville, county of Sarat.oga,and State of New York, have invented anew and Improved 4Mode of Manufacturing Boxes and Caddies; 'and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference bein g had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specication, in which- Figure 1 is a central section of a box as manufactured by me. y
I will now describe the manner in which v boxes and Caddies are made.
Eirst, the tin or other metal plate is out into the requiredsirips and passed below the rollers `of a,- colng, crimping, and beading apparatus,
and shaped as shown; secondly, the head or bottom is placed within the coil of the rim in `its proper place against the lap a of the rim; thirdly, the head and rim now united are next passed upon a form -to correspond with the inside of the box or can and gripped by suitable jaws or their equivalent, fourthly, and lastly, the rim is now soldered or otherwise fastened.
