Description

(No Model.) W. H. LAMON.
COMBINATION TAG.
No. 399,756. Patented Mar. 19, 1889.
WITNESSES, IJV'VlZ/VTOZ? elflmwemt V .zlziamey nirrnn STATES WVILLIAM H. LAMON, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
- COMBINATION=TAG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 399,756, dated March 19, 1889.
Application filed February 16, 1888. Serial No. 264,297. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM H. LAMON, of Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented an Improved Combination Shipping- Tag, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to tags of that class in which a bill, envelope, remark sheet, and shipping-tag are combined in the one article; and the invention consists in the peculiarities of construction of the tag, all as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front View of the tag folded, and Fig. 2 is a plan of the same unfolded.
In the drawings, the letter C designates the body of the tag, the inner face of which serves as a remark-sheet.
A B designate the bill or invoice portion, adapted to be folded on the dotted line a, and preferably ruled, as shown.
E is the end flap connected to the body O, and designed to be folded 011 the line I).
D D are side flaps to the body 0, having acute-angled points 0 nearest the end flap, E.
The body 0 is preferably ruled upon its outer face, as shown at d, Fig. 1, for the address, the.
The various portions above described are provided with perforations or eyelets a: for the purpose of tying, tacking, hooking, or otherwise fastening the parts together when closed or folded, and for attaching the tag to the article on which it is to be used. These perforations or eyelets are so arranged in relation to each other that when folded, as shown in "Fig. 1, a single cord or fastener can be passed through the perforations in the two port-ions of the bill or invoice, the body 0, the end flap, and the two side flaps, the said side flaps overlapping each other and serving to keep in place the folded bill A B.
I attach especial importance to the shape of my tag, for the part B of the invoice portion being at one end of the body 0 and the part A at one side of the part B independent of the flaps 'D the said invoice portion can be folded upon itself and then upon the body 0, and when the tag is folded, as shown in Fig. 1 and secured to the car by tacks or nails through the holes a; on, the contents of the invoice portion cannot be ascertained without destroying the tag, and, furthermore, the invoice may be readily detached from the body along the line g y when desired.
\Vhat I claim as new is As an improved article of mannfacturaa combination shipping tag comprising the parts A and B, the part A, adapted to fold over the part B, the body 0, attached to the part B, the oblong end flap, E, at the end of the body 0, opposite to the part B, and the side flaps, D, on the body 0, having their acute-angled points nearest the end flap, E, and holes or perforations, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM II. LAMON.
