T.- H. DAY.
RAIL SUPPORT FOR DOOR HANGERS.
No. 394,648. Patented Dec. 18, 1888.
[1mm grapho Wm i/meiea- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
TRUMAN II. DAY, OF AI RORA, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND THE \YILCOX MANI FI (TUBING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
RAIL-SUPPORT FOR DOOR-HANGERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 394,643, dated. December 18, 1888.
Application filed May 15, 1888. Serial No. 273,952. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, TRUMAN I-I. DAY, re-
reference being bad to the accompanying;
drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an end elevation of the support, the rail, and a roller door-hanger. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the supportand rail. Fig. 3 is a front elevation, on a smaller scale, showing a rail and its supports.
This invention relates to supports for the rails for roller door-hangers. The object is to construct an improvedsupport for the rail, which I accomplish as illustrated in the drawings, and hereinafter described. That which I claim as new will be pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, A represents the side or wall of a building from which the door is supported.
B is an L-shaped bracket.
C is a brace, which can be formed integral with the bracket 13, as shown, or it can be made separate from and secured to the bracket B. This brace 0 consists of a verti- 0 cal portion, I), an inclined portion, 0, a vertical portion, (7-, to which the rail is riveted, and a horizontal portion, e, which is riveted t0 the horizontal arm of the bracket B. The
end a of the horizontal arm of the bracket B projects beyond the vertical portion 61 of the 3 5 brace and forms a support for the rail.
D is a flat bar-rail which rests on the proj ecting end a of the bracket 1; and is riveted to the vertical portion (1 of the brace t.
E is a common grooved roller door-hanger, the roller of which runs on the rail D.
The supports may be secured to the wall A by screws which pass through both the vertical arm of the bracket B and the vertical portion I) of the brace (J, and are placed at such distances apart as may be necessary to properly support the door. \Yhen two or more sections of rail D are used, the adjoining ends of two sections rest on a support.
The support, consisting of the bracket B and brace is strong, well adapted to hold the rail, and very easily made.
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A support for the rail for door-hangers, consisting of an L-shaped bracket, 1), and a brace, having a vertical portion, d, to which the rails can be secured, and a horizontal portion, e, secured to the horizontal arm of the bracket 13 a little distance from the outer end thereof, leaving a projecting end, a, to support the rail, substantially as specified.
