- a second inductive detector 33 is placed next to the detector 32 in alignment with the axis of the printing roller 24 so as to detect the caps at the very moment of their printing.
- the sub-assembly comprises a pulse generator 34 of the hybrid monostable type (flipflop a uni-junction timing circuit) having an input connected to the first detector 32 but having moreover a second input connected to the tachometric dynamo 31, this generator producing at a first output 34, when actuated by the detector 32, a signal of duration which is governed by or more precisely inversely proportional to the speed of the dynamo (the voltage of the latter being applied to the terminals of the capacitor of the RC circuit of the generator). In the absence of a signal at this output 34 there is a signal at its second output 34.

- the other input of the gate 35 is connected to the second detector 33 and its output is connected to an electromechanical pulse counter 37.
- an electronic device 38 Connected in parallel with this counter 37 is an electronic device 38 adapted to check whether the counter has moved forward one unit in a normal interval of time for its advance. In the case of imperfect operation of the counter 37, this device sets off an alarm 39 and stops the motor 5.

- the latter transfers its ink to the inking up roller 16 which then inks up the printing surface carried by the roller 23.
- the latter deposits or prints an image of the printing surface on the printing roller 24 which prints this image when it passes over the cap C through the opening 9" of the case 9.
- the metal cap C When the metal cap C passes in front of the first detector 32, the latter sends a pulse to the generator 34 which then delivers at its output 34 a signal of a length inversely proportional to the speed measured by the tachometric dynamo 31.
- This length of the signal is therefore also inversely proportional to the rate of feed of the bottles B which are fed by the disc 3 driven by the motor 5.
- the length of the signal is such that at the normal rate of feed of the bottles, the metal cap C passes in front of the second detector 33 before the end of the signal.
- the detector 33 delivers a pulse upon the passage of the cap C, that is to say at the moment of the printing of this cap by the roller 24, and this pulse is combined in the AND gate 35 with that of the signal delivered at the output 34 of the generator 34.
- This gate 35 then delivers a pulse which actuates the electromechanical counter 37 and causes the latter to count one unit more. Thus, one count corresponds to-each printing of an image or stamping.
- the flipflop 40 When the machine is started up, the flipflop 40 is in such state that there is no signal at its output 40 and a signal at its output 40".
- the flipflop 40 Upon the passage of a cap in front of the detector 32, the latter sends a signal to the flipflop 40 which produces a signal at its output 40 and suppresses the signal at its output 40".
- the cap in front of the detector 33 Upon the passage of the cap in front of the detector 33, the latter sends a signal to the AND gate 36 which already receives a signal from the output 40" of the flipflop but receives nothing from the output 34 of the monostable element so that this gate 36 does not set off the alarm 45.
- this counter When the electromechanical counter 37 has advanced one unit after the passage of the cap in front of the detector 33, this counter sends a pulse through the INCLUSIVE OR gate 41 to the flipflop 40 which resumes its initial state so as to permit the following counting without setting off the alarm.
- the electronic sub-assembly F also has for function to prevent any risk of fraud or error and a printing of the caps without counting.
- the device 38 for checking that there is a normal advance of the counter sets off an alarm and stops the machine.
- the metal cap C would pass under the second detector 33 before passing under the first detector 32 so that there would be no coincidence between the pulse of the detector 33 and the signal which is normally delivered by the output 34 of the generator 34 as a consequence of the actuation of the latter by the detector 32. Consequently, no counting could occur, since the AND gate 35 would not be actuated.
- the pulse of the second detector 33 would coincide with a signal which is given by the output 40" of the flipflop 40 hearing in mind that no signal is given by the first detector 32.
- These signals would give a signal at the output of the AND gate 43 and this signal would then set off an alarm and cause the complete stoppage of the machine by the action of the OR gate 44. Consequently, the machine could only be started up again by re-inserting the safety contact key 42 which flips the flipflop 40 and thus suppresses the signal delivered at the output 40".
- the pulse of the detector 33 would not occur during the prolonged signal delivered by the generator 34 at its output 34 as a consequence of the actuation of the latter by the detector 32.
- the pulse delivered by the detector 33 would occur whereas the generator 34 would be at rest, with a signal delivered at the output 34.
- a signal would also be delivered at the output 40 of the flipflop 40 owing to the actuation of the latter by the detector 32.
- the stamping of the caps is achieved in a continous manner.
- the printing device is simple, since it only comprises rotating rollers without parts which move in translation or in a reciprocating manner.
- the sub-assembly E for inking up the printing surface to be printed may be easily cleaned since it is sufficent to unscrew the screw 22 and raise the support plates which carry therewith the rollers 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 and the ink supply tank 11.
- Another advantage of the invention resides in the simplification of the mechanical parts of this machine, due to the utilization of an electronic system for counting, detecting the caps, actuating the machine and detecting fraudulent use.
- An improvement of the invention would consist in employing an ink having a resin base which would be polymerized immediately under the effect of a suitable radiation. For drying the ink it would then be sufficient to provide following on the printing device a source of radiation directed onto the upper part of the caps as they issue from below this device.

- the printing sub-assembly comprises on a side of the transfer roller at least one erasing element, an electromagnet, and spring means biasing the erasing element toward the transfer roller, the electromagnet being for connection to a power supply which also supplies power to the machine to be operative in opposition to the action of the spring means to move the erasing element away from the transfer roller when power is supplied to the machine.
