UNITED STATES PATENTS 2.893.380 7/1959 Walker et a1. 128/25 R 3 Claims, 5 Drawing Figures DEVICE FOR HEALTH PROMOTION The present invention relates to a health promoting device comprising a chair and a bed with a vibrating system incorporated therein.
Less effect for health promotion is expected from conventional devices of this kind are less effective for health promotion because of their monotony and regularity in vibrating and thereby incapable of arousing strong interest in the user.
A first object of the present invention is to obviate the defects of the conventional vibrators, and to provide a health promoting device in which irregular vibration and stimulation are given to a human body by the propagation of sound wave amplitude. strong or weak. generated by a loud speaker which is disposed in a chair or bed in order to promote the health by facilitating the circulation of blood by means of massaging action.
The above and further objects of the present invention will be apparent from the following description of the invention in reference to the accompanying drawings. in which:
FIG. 1 is a longitudinally sectioned side view of a chair equipped with loud speakers;
FIG. 2 is a perspective of a chair which is formed by stretching a canvas or other sheet materials;
FIG. 3 is a sectional side view showing the main part of the above;
FIG. 4 is a perspective of a bed equipped with loud speakers; and
FIG. 5 is a side view of the same.
Referring now to FIG. 1, the reference A is a chair which is hollow and in which the seat, the back and the arms are integrally formed with synthetic resin. The numeral 1 indicates loud speakers supported at the inside faces of the seat and the back of the chair by means of screws so that the openings of the speakers direct towards the seat and the back. respectively.
In FIGS. 2 and 3. the reference A is a chair comprising a frame box 5 having a substantially L-shaped bottom wall and side walls at both sides of the bottom wall which are made of hard synthetic resin. a pipe frame 6 along the edge of the frame box. and a sheet 7 made of canvas. synthetic resin or leather formed into a smoothly curved seat and a back fixed on the frame pipe 6 by means of bands 8. In this chair A speakers I are supported by supports 4 with the openings of the speakers directing towards the seat and the back, respectively. I
In FIGS. 4 and 5; the reference B is a bed. loud speakers 1 being mounted by means of mounting pieces 13 at suitable positions on the inner faces of the top surface of the bed so that the openings of the speakers direct upward. I I
The above mentioned loud speakers are connected to an amplifier of a record player. tape recorder, or radio receiver through a wire introduced into the chair or bed.
In the operation of the health promoting device according to the present invention as described above. rhythmical vibration is generated by speakers disposed in the seat and/or the back of the chair by playing the record player or the like.
Different from regular vibrations of conventional massaging machines. irregular but rhythmical vibration is given to the human body in the chair by the changing amplitude of the sound of music from the loud speakers. a massaging effect thereby giving a comfortable feeling to and improving the blood circulation of the human body contributing to the maintanance of health and beauty as the result.
The massaging force can be adjusted by varying the volume of the sound.
In case of the bed B. the same effect as with the chair A can be obtained.
As for the chair A. as shown in FIG. 2. which is composed of leather, canvas or the like, the seat and the back of which are strained like a hammock when used. better transmission of the vibration of the amplified sound can be obtained. What is claimed is: l. A therapeutic apparatus comprising: a structural support framework; flexible sheet means extended over said framework for supporting a body lying on said apparatus; and
loud speakers within said framework narrowly spaced below and directed toward said flexible sheet means. whereby sound vibrations eminating from said speakers will cause said flexible surface to vibrate.
2. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein said flexible sheet means is comprised of a hanging. smoothly curved tarpaulin-like material having its edges attached to said framework.
3. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein said flexible sheet means is comprised of a synthetic resin tightly extended across said framework.

Claims (3)
