MAGNETIC IRONING BOARD SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION My invention relates to an ironing board fitted with a magnetic ironing surface which creates pressure between the iron and the ironing surface. The magnetic ironing surface is formed from electrical wiring contained within continuous recessed slots in the top surface of the ironing board A wire mesh screen is positioned on top of the ironing board surface with an ironing board cloth cover placed over the wire mesh screen. A control panel permits the operator to vary the intensity of the magnetic field.
An advantage of my invention is that it provides a means for increasing the pressure exerted between the iron and the ironing surface.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING:
The objects and features of the invention may be understood with reference to the following detailed description of an illustrative embodiment of the invention. taken together with the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 illustrates a top view of the invention;
FIG. 2 illustrates a side view of the invention in use; and
FIG. 3 illustrates a sectional view of the invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT:
Turning now descriptively to the drawings, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIGS. 1-3 show a magnetic ironing board which creates pressure between the portable pressing iron 16 and the ironing surface. The magnetic ironing board 10 is constructed ofa hori zontal platform 11 joined to foldable legs 17. A series of parallel recessed slots 12 are mounted in the top of platform 11. A magnetic wiring electric circuit of conductors 13 is embedded into parallel recessed grooves 12 in the upper surface of platform 11. A variable electric control panel 18 is mounted to the side of platform 11 for regulating the sourceof current.
A wire mesh screen 14 is located on top surface 21 of the platform 11 to create an inductive effect and increase the effectiveness of the magnetic field generated by conductors 13 located on top of wire mesh screen 14. A flat sheet 15 is mounted on top of wire screen 14 to form an ironing surface.
One corner 19 of platform 11 is free of the electrical conductors I3 and wire mesh screen 14 so that no magnetism is exerted on a pressing iron 16 placed on corner 19 to simplify lifting of the pressing iron 16 from the platform 11.
Since obvious changes may be made in the specific embodiment of the invention described herein, such modifications being within the spirit and scope of the invention claimed, it is indicated that all matter contained herein is intended as illustrative and not as limiting in scope.
I claim:
1. An ironing board, with a flat ironing surface, fitted with magnetic means for attracting a hand-held pressing iron to the surface of the ironing board and thus creating pressure while ironing between a pressing iron and work to be ironed lying on the ironing surface of the ironing board, with said magnetic means electrically energized and mounted in parallel slots below the ironing surface of the ironing board, said magnetic means when energized acting to create a magnetic field.
