Abstract

A massage table having a frame supported on sprockets which carry a continuous chain. Rollers are supported on said chain. The table top has slots in it and a pad supported above said table top. The rollers extend up through the slots and engage the bottom of the pad. The chain carries the rollers completely through their orbit and the rollers deform the pad and thereby massage the person resting on the pad. The table top is adjustable toward and away from the table to adjust the vigor of the massage.

7 Claims, 6 Drawing Figures PAIENIEUFEBZSIQIH SHEET 3 0F 3 MASSAGE DEVICE REFERENCE TO PRIOR ART The massage table disclosed herein is an improvement over US. Pat. Nos. 3,446,205; 3,389,699; 2,910,060; and 2,439,292.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide an improved massage table.
Another object of the invention is to provide a massage table which is simple in construction, economical to manufacture, and simple and efficient to use.
Another object of the invention is to provide a massage table wherein massage rollers are carried on a continuous chain and the rollers pass through slots in the table top as they move in an orbit with said chain.
With the above and other objects in view, the present invention consists of the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that changes may be made in the form, size, proportions, and minor details of construction without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a top view of the table according to the invention.
FIG. 2 is a side view of the mechanism.
FIG. 3 is a top view of the table with a part of the top removed and the pad removed for a better understand- FIG. 4 is a side view of the table.
FIG. 5 is an end view of the table.
FIG. 6 is a top view of the table with the top removed.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Now with more particular reference to the drawings, the table shown has four legs 13 and a top frame 11 and a bottom frame 15. A top is held in spaced relation above the top frame by means of rollers. The top may be adjusted up and down by adjusting the angle iron track up and down by means of the mechanism best shown in FIG. 4. This mechanism is made up of a bracket 26 and a bracket 27 which are fixed to the top of frame member 28 of the table. The rack 28' is engaged by a sprocket which is connected to the crank 29. When the crank 29 is rotated, the sprocket is swung around the pivot 30 to bring the pivot point 31 from a position in full lines to the position 31 shown in dotted lines. The link 32 will pull on link 33 to pivot about the pivot point 34 which will move the connection 35 up and down thereby raising and lowering the angle track 25.
The relatively rigid plywood top 11, which could be made of any other relatively rigid sheet material, has longitudinal slots 37 and these slots receive rollers 21. The rollers 21 engage the underside of the relatively thick pad 12. The rollers 21 are spaced outwardly from the rollers 21 so that the rollers 21 roll through the slots 37 and the rollers 21 roll through the slots 37' thereby varying the position of application of force on the body of the person being treated.
The rollers 21 and 21 are supported on axles 16 and 16' respectively. Axles 16 and 16 have end bearing members 36 and 36 which roll in the bottom flange of the angle members 25. The angle members 25 are carried on the vertical members 38 and are moved up and down by the links 33.
The chains 18 are supported on the sprockets l7 and sprockets 17 are carried on structural member 23 by means of suitable pillow blocks 40 held to the members 23 by bolts 41. The axles 16 and 16 are attached to the chains 18 and are carried in orbital path around the sprockets 17 in the direction of the arrows indicated.
The shaft 42 carries the sprockets l7 and the shaft 42' is driven by motor 25A.
It will be seen that as the motor 25A drives the axle 42', it rotates the rollers 21 and 21' in orbital path. These rollers pass through the slots 37 and 37' and en gage the underside of the pad 12 thus massaging the person resting on the pad.
The foregoing specification sets forth the invention in its preferred practical forms but the structure shown is capable of modification within a range of equivalents without departing from the invention which is to be understood is broadly novel as is commensurate with the appended claims.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
