3 Claims, 5 Drawing figures DISMOUNTABLE HIBACI-ll CONSTRUCTION BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to hibachis and more particularly to hibachis which can be easily disassembled for reducing packaging dimensions.
Conventional hibachis which are cast with a one-piece construction have relatively large dimensions. This requires a relatively large volume for storage and/or transportation.
According to the present invention, a hibachi is provided the packaging dimensions of which are reduced up to 50 percent ot the conventional type.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A main object of this invention is to provide an improved hibachi having a body portion and a base portion which are separable but connected and which are easily disassembled, the latter portion being capable of being placed inside the former portion for storage or transportation.
Another object of this invention is to provide an improved hibachi wherein the fire grate is integrally cast with the said body portion for being inseparably fixed thereon.
A further object of this invention is to provide an improved hibachi which is provided outside the body portion and the base portion with hasps in order to connect the aforesaid portions therebetween.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING In the accompanying drawing:
F I0. I is a vertical, partially sectional front view of a hibachi provided in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the hibachi being depicted in assembled state;
FIG. 2 is a top view of the body portion of said hibachi;
FIG. 3 is a top view of the base portion of said hibachi;
FIG. 4 is a top view of the hibachi grill partially cut-away; and
FIG. 5 is a sectional front view depicting the packaging state of the hibachi.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION FIGS. I to 3 show that the hibachi of the invention comprises mainly a body portion 1 and a base portion 2. The body portion I is cast of a metal such as iron, aluminum or the like. The fire grate I1 is the bottom plate of the body portion 1 and cast integrally therewith. A plurality of openings 12 is provided in the said fire grate II for ventilation.
At underside of the grate 11, a downward flange 14 is formed around the periphery. At least two holes 16 are provided on rear wall to provide for the fixing of a grill support member 3 by means of bolts I7. At least two holds 13 are provided on each of the side walls for connecting the handle members 19 by means of nuts and bolts 18. Under the handle members 19, hasps 20 are provided to clamp into the cavities 23 for separably connecting the body portion 1 and the base portion 2.
The base portion 2 is made of metal casing of a material similar to that of the body portion 1. Four legs 25 are formed on the lower corners of the base portion 2 and are integrally cast therewith. At upper end of the base portion 2, outward flange 24 is formed for engaging with the downward flange l4 ofthe body portion I.
A slidable gate 26 on the front side is provided for adjusting the supply of air for combustion. A seat 27, preferably of wood sheet, is provided under the base portion 2 and is con nected by means of wood screws thereto.
The comb-like grill support member 3 has at least two holes 32 for the fixing of the member 3 on the rear wall 15 of the body portion 1 by means of the aforesaid bolts 17. The comb parts 33 are provided for setting the grill 4 and selecting a suitable height for the grill. The grill 4 and its handle 4I are se arable but are connected by screw 42.
or packaging, the bolts 17 and 42 are disconnected and the hasps 20 are released. Then, the support members 3 are placed inside the body portion 1 and covered with the base portion 2 in up-side-down position. The handle 41 and grill 4 are finally set in the resulting clearances and on the top end of the hibachi respectively as shown in FIG. 5.
This novel construction of assembled hibachi is merely an illustrative embodiment, and is not limitative of the invention. For example, the hibachi can be provided in the form of double unit for each set. Further, in the larger hibachi, a movable partition mounted with a stud bolt on the tire grate could be provided for limiting the desired utilization area.
What is claimed is:
I. A hibachi construction comprising in combination:
a. a body portion having four upwardly and outwardly extending side walls of essentially reversely curved configuration, and an apertured bottom plate integrally cast with said side walls forming a fire grate; and handles rigidly secured to two opposed side walls of said body portion;
b. a base portion having a wood support platform, said body portion adapted to be detachably mounted on said base portion; said base portion having a shape and dimensions so as to be completely and invertably positionable within said body portion for reducing packaging dimensions upon disassembly of said body and base portions; and
c. means for separably connecting said body portion and base portion for securing and readily assembling and disassembling said portions.
2. A hibachi construction as claimed in claim I wherein said means comprises hasps on the outside of one of said portions to clasp the other of said portions for providing connection between said portions.
3. A hibachi construction as claimed in claim I comprising a movable partition for limiting the effective area of the grate.
