Description

drawin s PATENT OFFICE.
JOHNP. SOHENOK, OF MATTEAVVAN, NEW YORK.
SPECULUMF-SYRINGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 365,542, dated June 28,1887.
Application filed- February 1, 1887. Serial No. 226,166.
To atZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN P. ScHENcK, of Matteawan, in the county of Dutchess and State of New York, have invented certain new andeach carrying a perforated tube.
The inventionalso consists of the various parts and details hereinafter described.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying f, forming part of this specification,
in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both thefigures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement. Fig. 2 is an inside face view of a modified form of one of the fingers, with parts u in section.
In my present application I operate the fingers a a and c by the cross-piece E, engaging the inclines of the arms A A in the same manner and by the same means as described in my former application referred to. Instead, however, of making the fingers straight, as shown in previous drawings, they are now slightly curved and formed with a neck, a or o,
(No model.)
In the former case the perforations are all around the tube d, while in the latter arrangement the perforations are only on the inside.
To the outer end of each tube or pipe 6! is secured an elastic branch tube, e, extending from the main tubef, connected in'any suitable manner with'means for forcing a liquid v into the said perforated tubes or pipes d. I prefer, however, to use the common syringepump, 9, shown in Fig. 1, and discharging into the main tube f.
It will be seen that when the instrumentfis applied, as stated in my former application, then the perforated tubes or pipes follow the movements of the fingers a a and c, and when the fingers are held expanded then the operator can force a liquid into the vagina by the syringepump and its connection, the elastic tube 6f, and the perforated tubes or pipes d.
The tubes 6 are made elastic, so as to follow the movements of the perforated tubes.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1's- 1. In aspeculum syringe, the combination, with the fingers, of aperforated tube secured rigidly to each of said fingers and moving with the same, substantially as set forth.
2. The upper fingers and rods supporting the said fingers and provided with an incline, in combination with the lower finger, a crosspieee supporting the said lower finger and operating on the said incline to open the upper 1 fingers, perforated tubes secured rigidly to the said upper and lower fingers, and means connected with the said perforated tubes to force a liquid through the said perforated tubes, substantially as herein shown and described.
JOHN P. SCHENGK.
