. LUGGAGE SPO'ITER This invention relates generally to identification labels. More specifically it relates to labels for luggage.

It is generally well known particularly to travelers that itis sometimes difiicult to locate their own luggage amongst a large number of other luggage being unloaded from an airplane or a ship in view that a great many of the luggage pieces are of similar design, color and shape so that it adds to confusion and delay in claiming luggages. This situation is of course objectionable and in want of improvement.

Accordingly, it is a principal object of the present invention to provide a luggage spotter having self contained means whereby a particular luggage can be easily and quickly spotted and recognized from among a number of other luggage.

- Another object is to provide a luggage spotter which includes an area of irridescent color thereupon so as to glare reflected light and thus immediately gain the attention of an observer. f

Yet another object is to provide a luggage spotter wherein the device can be easily and quickly attached or removed from a luggage.

Yet a'further object is to provide a luggage spotter that includes an oscillating support so to flash an animated reflection of light rays and thus improve further the means of gaining attention of an observer looking for his luggage.

Yet a further object is to provide a luggage spotter wherein the area of irridescent color may be of any of various different colors so that a searcher may spot his own luggage more easily from amongst others which may also have luggage spotters but which may also have different irridescent color.

Yet a further object is toprovide a luggage spotter wherein the area of irridescent color may be of any of various different size and different shape such as triangular, square, circular, semicircular, rectangular and the like, thus further distinguishing an owners luggage from amongst others having likewise luggage spotters but of a different size or shape.

Other objects are to provide a luggage spotter which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.

Further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds.

To the accomplishment of the above and related objects, my invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings, attention being called to the fact, however, that the drawings are illustrative only, and that changes maybe made in the specific construction illustrated and described within the scope of the appended claims.

FIG. 1 is a face view of a luggage spotter showing one design of the invention.

FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 are face views of modified designs of luggage spotters.

FIG. 5 is a perspective view thereof shown (in operative use) mounted on a luggage.

FIG. 6 is a side view of a modified form of the invention wherein the luggage spotter is made mounted upon one end of a very thin coil spring so to freely occilate upon slightest motion of the luggage thus animating the glow light rays for attracting easier attention, the opposite end of the spring being attached upon a flat base having adhesive on the underside for attachment to a luggage.

Referring now to the drawing'in detail, and more particularly to FIGS. 1 to 5 at this time, the reference numeral l0 represents a luggage spotter according to the present invention wherein there is a base comprised of a card 11 and which may be of any desirable material such as paper, cardboard, plasticized paper, plastic or the like and which may be flexible or rigid. 1 I 1 On a rear side 12 of the card, an adhesive 13 of any type may be, applied so that the cardcan be easily and quickly secured to a luggage l4.

On a front side IS, an imprinted text 16 indicates spaces 17 for an owner to write his own name, address, telephone, or the like, u n the'card. An area 18 is also provided along side the area I that carries the text 16 and spaces 17. The area 18 is painted with irridescent paint of anyof various colors, as indicated by the drawing. The area l8'may be of any size, and it may be of various shapes as shown by the different figures of the drawing.

In operative use the luggage owner simply fills out his name, address and phone on the luggage spotter, and then afiixes it to the luggage in such place that it may be visible when placed amongst other luggage s, and thus aids the owner to immediately spot his own luggage when claiming it at an airport, ship pier, hotel or the like.

In FIG. 6 a modified design of luggage spotter 20 is shown wherein the card 21 is the same as above-described card 11, but wherein it is mounted upon the end of a thin freely oscillating coil spring 22 which'at its opposite end is secured on a base plate 23 the underside of which is coated with adhesive 24 for securement to a luggage. In this form of the invention, a vibration will cause the spring to oscillate for a long period, thus animating the light rays from the irridescent surface, thus aiding further to gain attention when looking for a luggage.

While certain novel features of my invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those-skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim as follows:

I. A luggage spotter comprising an identification card and a spaced normally parallel base plate, said plate and card being interconnected with a helix spring concentrically disposed relative to an axis passing through the centers of the plate and card, said plate and card having portions symmetrically overlapping the periphery of the spring, said card having irridescent portions on the frontfare thereof and said plate having an adhesive backing adapted to be mounted on the surface of luggage.

2. A luggage spotter as in claim I wherein the spring is in the shape of an inverted truncated cone attached to the card at its larger end.
