Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK. MEOKEL, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
CLOTHES-LINE FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 355,332, dated January 4,1887.
Application filed September 2, 1886. Serial No. 219,482. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK MEOKEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Clothes- Line Fastener, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to movable disks, to one of which one end of the clothes-line is attached, while the other end of said line is clamped between said disks to secure the same.
The invention consists in the features of improvement hereinafter more fully pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical central section of my improved fast ener, showing the holes A B in line, and taken from x to a, Fig. 2, in a straight line. Fig. 2 is an inside view of the disk A. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the fastener through the curved dotted line 00 to, Fig. 2, and showing holes A B out of line.
A B are two disks, held together by a central bolt, 0, attached to one of the disks, B, and screwed into the other disk, A.
D is an eyebolt attached to one of the disks A, to which one end of the clothes-line is firmly attached.
ABare openings passing through the disks opposite each other when the disks are in the position shown in Fig. 1, through which the other end of the clothes-line can be freely passed.
At the inside of one of the disks, A, a concentric recess, E, is made, beginning at the open- 35 ing A and extending one-half (more or less) around. This recess is circular, and corresponds in depth at or near the opening A with the size of the clothes-line, and diminishes gradually in depth from the opening A 0 to its end.
One end of the clothesline is attached to the eyebolt D, and the other end is passed through the openings A B in the disks. The disk B is then turned about one half of a complete 45 revolution to bring the holes A B out of line and into the position shown in Fig. By this operation the clothesline will be drawn into the recess E, and as said recess diminishes in depth, and at the same time the bolt 0 screws 50 into thedisks A, this end of the clothes-line will be firmly pressed and clamped by the inner surface of the disk B into this recess E.
What I claim as my invention is,
The combination of disk A, having opening 5; A, eyebolt D, and concentric recess E, with the disk B, having opening B, and the bolt O, the recess E diminishing in depth from end to end, substantially as specified.
FREDERICK MEGKEL.
