STEAM'COOKING-VESSEL.
fiPECIlE'ICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 352,230, dated November 9, 1886.
Application filed June 18, 1886.
Serial No. 205,575. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHRISTENIA O. DANNER, of Ionia, in the county oflonia and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Steam Cooking-Vessels, of
- which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to steam cooking-vessels; and it consists in a novel construction and arrangement of the same, as hereinafter'fully set forth. I
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of myimproved cooking-vessel, with some of the smaller utensils removed; Fig. 2, a vertical central section; Fig. 3, a top plan view; Fig. 4,aho'rizontal section on the linexwof Fig.
' 2, and Figs. 5 and 6 detail views.
A indicates the base or boiler, which,as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, is divided by vertical partitionsainto four chambers--a central chamber, B, and three chambers, O G (F -whose outer wall is formed by the boiler A. Each of the chambers B 00 0 is provided with fillingspouts l), by which any one of the chambers may be filled at will, thespouts being provided with covers b, to prevent the escape of steam.
Fitting upon the top of the boiler A is a cap or cover, E, which, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3,is provided with a central circular seat or depression, E having a perforated bottom to receive and support the upright column F, the latter being provided at its upper end with an enlarged socket or holder, G, also having perforations in its bottom directly over the column ets, circular in form, and provided with lateral Wings d, and a depending flange, e, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 6, these sockets or holders being adapted to fit upon ,the cap or cover immediately above the chambers 0, G and 0 When in place upon the cover, the wings d engage under the flanges c,while the depending flange e holds the sockets 'or holders in place; These holders I are provided with a raised rim or edge, f, and its bottom is cut out where it rests upon the perforated sections H, so as to allow the steam to pass upwardly unobstructed, as shown in Figs. 2 and 6. Each holder or socket I is adapted to receive a kettle, J, which may be of any usual and well-known construction, provided, however, that its bottom where it projects over the boiler A be perforated,as shown in Fig. 2. The socket or holder G upon the upper end of the tubular column F is also adapted to receive a kettle, the bottom of which is perforated.
When it is desired to remove any one of the kettles,it, with its holder I, is withdrawn from the top of the boiler, and a plate,K,of the form shown in Fig. 5, is inserted beneath the flanges c, and effectually prevents the escape of steam through the perforated plate or section H. Under this arrangement any or all of the kettles may be used at will, regardless of the others.
The cooking-vessel may be made of tin or other suitable material, and may be of other form than circular in cross-section. It will also be seen that a'greater or lesser number of openings or chambers than three may be pro:
vided.
In order to prevent the escape of steam through the filling-spouts, should the covers thereof be left open, I provide each with a valve or cut-ofl, L, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4t.
- From the above construction it will be seen that any or all of the chambers-B G O 0 may be filled with Water, and the steam and odors of one vessel kept separate from those of the others.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. In a steam cooking-vessel, the boiler A, providedwith a central chamber, B,and chambers O O 0 arranged about the central chamber, each chamber being provided with a filling tube or spout.
2. In combination with boiler A, having chambers B O (3 G a cover, E, applied to the boiler, provided with a perforated socket above the chamber B, and with perforated sections H aboveeach of the chambers O O" 0 and kettles J, adapted to be placed over the perforations in the cover, substantially as shown.
3. In combination with boiler A, kettles J,
and cover E, provided with perforated sections H, and sockets or holders 1, applied to the cover, substantially as shown, and adapted to receive and support the kettles.
4;. In combination with boiler A, cover E, provided with perforated sections H, and flanges c, holder I, provided with wings d, and raised rim f, and having its bottom out out Where it rests upon the cover, as and for the purpose set forth.
5. .In combination with boiler A. cover E, provided with perforated sections H, and flanges e, and the removable cover or plate K, arranged substantially as described.
6. The herein-described steamer, consisting CHRISTENIA C, BANNER.

O. O. THOMPSON, G. W. BUCHANAN.
