My invention relates to devices for watering stock; and it consists in the construction and novel combination of parts, as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the main portion of the body of the stock-waterer, which is covered by an" angular-hinged lid or cover, B, which, when closed down, extends over the top of the portion A of the, body and down along the vertical edges of the ends (1 G of said main portion A, and meets the front upper edge, D, of said main portion. iliary portion E of the body A, or that portion of the device from which the stock drinks, is open at the top, in order that the stock may have ready access to the same.
Within the main portion A of the body I provide the feed-controlling receptacle or box E, which is connected below its bottom by the vertical rods or arms G (3?, secn red to its opposite sides at its vertical middleline to the ends of the curved diverging arms H H of the lever I, said arms H H- having fulcrum-bends J in them, which bends rest upon a transverse rod, K, secured in the side walls of the box A.
Made integral with the curved arms H H is the weight-supporting arm L, which extends nearly to the vertical partition N, and this arm L, which is an open or slotted arm, is provided with an adjustable weight, P, which is sired point, sothat when there is no water in the receptacle F the weight will descend and raise the receptacle F, which is connected through its bail R with the lower end of an angle-arm, S, the upper end of said angle-arm S being fulcrumed in bearings T, projecting from the inner face of the end 0 of the portion A of the body. The receptacle F is connected by a flexible tube, W, with the box portion E, so that the water is conveyed'through said pipe or tube W into the drinking receptacle or box portion E. This construction provides for the automatic operation of the feedcontrolling receptacle F; for as soon as the water in said recep- V tacle F has runoff into the drinking-receptacle E the weight will automatically open the 'valve at the supply-pipe and permit the water to flow into the receptacle F until the weight ofthe water therein is sufficient to again close the valve. \Vhen the drinking-receptacle has been filled to the level of the flexible tube, the
device will cease to be operative until enough of the water in the drinking-receptacle has been consumed to bring the level of the water in the latter below the discharge end of the flexible tube, when the feed-controlling receptacle will again become operative. The backwater, which accumulates in the receptacle F after the drinking-receptacle is filled to the proper level, overcomes the adj ustable weight and closes the valve at the feed-pipe, which will remain closed until the water can again run into the partially-exhausted drinking-re- 'gle-arm S is provided with a stem-valve, V, v
