UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
7 WILLIAM BOOTH, or LEOMINSTER, MAssAoHUsE'rTs.
HAND MIRRORAND BR'usH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,958, dated N ovemberz, 1886.
Application filed May 28, 1886. Serial No, 203,544. (No model.)
Ta zz whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM Boo'rn, of Leominster, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hand Mirrors and Brushes, of which the following is a full, clear,
and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification,
i in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is front elevation of a hand-mirror to which my improvement has been applied. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section of the same, taken through the line m, Fig. 1. Fig.
3 is a plan view of the frame shown detached,
, ner that they can be made at less expense and with greater facility than when made in the ordinary manner.
The invention consists in the construction and combination of the variousparts of the hand mirrors and brushes, as will be hereinafter fully described.
I will describe my improvement as applied to a hand-mirror, but do not limit myself to that use, as it can be applied withequal advantage to brushes.
A represents the back of the mirror, which is cut out of a thin plate formed between two rolls, and which can be ornament-ed to any desired extent by dies formed in the face of one of the rolls, the face of the other roll being against the glass of a mirror, orthe stock of a brush. The front B of the handle is cut in i the desired'shape from a plate formed between two rolls. I
O is the frame, which is formed by forcing the plastic material through the ordinary stulTer, producinga long straight strip with a groove, D, in one side, and which is then cut into pieces of such a length as will form frames of the desired size. These pieces are then bent into the required shape upon formers.
The groove D is made of such a width as will receive the edges of the back A, the glass E, or the brush-stock, and the front plate, B, of the handle. The ends of the frame 0 are then fitted to each other and are cemented t0- get-h r.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. An improved frame for hand mirrors or brushes, consisting of a back plate, a handle front plate on the handle-extension of the back plate, and a grooved band {name surrounding the whole, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. In hand mirrors and brushes, the combination, with the plate E, of the back plate, A, the handle front plate, B, on the handle-extension of the back plate, and the band-frame C,
grooved in its inner side to receive the edges of the plate or block, the back plate, and the handle front, and surrounding thewhole, substantially as herein shown and described. WILLIAM BOOTH. WVitnesses:
